    Wallabies 2023

Looks like Laurie Fisher has joined up with the wallabies coaching group.

Can he kick? Would love to see Sua'ali'i in the Centres.

Here's a wild thought. Maybe he and RA have agreed to put more priority on the next RWC2027 in Australia, so they care more about building long-term depth then getting a squad ready for next year.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

When you say he's played there alot, then when? Couple of game for the Tahs? Not exactly professional experience. Sounds about the same experience level as Wright. I think it's going to a 50/50 with Campbell and Kellaway. I do agree he is extremely consistent and a good decision maker which is...

Yeh true, but the others just seem to have much better footwork (or that x-factor), Petaia does some freakish things, and Wright has a very good step. Banks was just solid all-round with pace and a decent boot.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

Lately I have found these comments around depth in our squad misleading. We have numerous players who can sort of play in a position with 1-2 games under there belt. We don't really have genuine depth. Especially at fullback. Kellaway, Hodge, Campbell, Wright - none are proven test level...

This is why Banks was preferred, despite probably being the least athletic or naturally gifted of the bunch. This is also why I hope either Kellaway or Campbell get first crack and why I don't want to see Wright or Petaia there again this year.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

True, was probably an unfair comparison given B Smith was one of the best in the world. Looking at all our fullback options Campbells running game is pretty good comparable to Kellaways, Wrights, Petaia, and is better then Hodges. IMO.

I hope this doesn't indicate any wider issues with culture etc.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

Never thought the "too small for test footy" was a great excuse. Especially for a back three player. Maybe for a tight 5 player I would agree. He could be in the same mould as a B.Smith, surely a similar size. Maybe you could argue he is not strong into contact, or is a poor defender, but this...

I hope Campbell gets a shot. Seems like a real smart footballer.

I'm 50/50 on that one. Actually 60/40 leaning towards he will not be a great 10. But he has done enough alrerady 'to give some hope and is young enough that anything can happen.

    Wallabies 2023

Some interesting comments from Rennie in the Brisbane times: “James got a crack in the last Test, we thought his experience would be very important, and we wanted him to drive the ship, allow us to implement our plan, and we were pretty clunky, to be honest, [and] lacked cohesion, and so he’s...

Very true. Who is your pick out of the Tahs youngsters? Edmed? It seems Harrison has really fallen out of contention, I thought he was good enough and young enough to persist with.

    Wallabies 2023

He wasn't exactly the primary organiser of the team. He played in a very structured team (kind like Lolesio and the Brumbies actually). Also, Beale did much of the playmaking at 12. He did his job well-enough. But was never and will never be one of the greats.

I wouldn't have picked it. I also didn't think JOC (James O'Connor) was that bad. But I like how Rennie isn't afraid to drop a player when need be. All eye's on Lolesio now and potentially Foley.

If I was a gambling man I would put money on an injury.

    Wallabies 2023

Well I think Rennie has mentioned a few times JOC (James O'Connor) has lacked sharpness and now he has had ample time to get into form and clearly has improved well-enough. Maybe the others are actually performing at training and just couldn't replicate it in a game. Who knows really.

Foley has a bit too prove beforehand. He will get a shot and either sink or swim. Nothing locked in for RWC yet clearly.

    Wallabies 2023

I don't have an issue with Foley either. It will help Lolesio's development, he can refer to Quade for what to do, and Foley for what not to do. It will be great to see both sides for development purposes.
