    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I don't remember who made this point a few months ago, but they declared that the every world cup winning team has had the best lock partnership. We don't know much about how Arnold and Rodda play together, but there's no doubt in my mind that we're talking about two guys in the top five...

With Poey gone, do we simply take it on the chin (nobody can replace him) and give the cap space and game time to guys who have impressed this year (eg. Brown, Samu)? Or do we try to replace him (eg. go for broke and make an offer for McMahon)?

Jones is a slightly less good Fardy. It’s insanity that people don’t want him.

If Lilo goes down, don't be shocked to see Wright in at 10. JJH's chances of getting into the team at all, let alone the starting team, currently seem very slim. Poey having missed more games for the Brumbies than he played. Played fewer games in eight years as a Brumby than Mowen did in...

Source: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6135945/farewell-to-a-legend-brumbies-champion-smith-retires/?cs=14280 I appreciate that we've all decided to forget about his time at the Reds, haha. Those are 150 minutes of 2017 that I'm happy to forget.

Booooo. Compare the House of Pain Highlanders to the Forysth Barr Highlanders. The 98-02 Highlanders were good, but beating any team that stepped foot in their stadium because of how awful the conditions were was a wonderful advantage. Only lost three games at home out of twenty-eight in five...

But it gives us one of the best home field advantages in the competition! Must feel good as a player knowing that other teams are really uncomfortable coming to the purpose-built wind tunnel that is Canberra Stadium in the middle of winter. Also makes us one of the few teams that can probably...

Up there with the great Fardy story when the Rebels tried to sign him. Source: https://www.brumbies.com.au/news/2019/05/21/wallaby-sio-signs-extended-deal...

I am resigned to Pocock only playing two more home games for the Brumbies: Reds, and whoever we play in a QF (god willing).

Honestly, much as I am a fan of Samu, he shouldn't be starting and should only be on the bench if you're committed to the Pooper and are worried about an injury to Hooper. If you aren't wedded to the idea of picking both Hooper and Pocock, then you need to pick one and build the backrow around...

Super Rugby 2019 Predictions - Aussie Conference

In my "what if they did what they could" fantasy world, the Reds won both Tahs games. However, with some better rest policy and defensive work, they could have won six other games. So they could have ended up on 10 wins as well, but I think the gap between reality and their potential is bigger...

Super Rugby 2019 Predictions - Aussie Conference

I'd argue that both the Brumbies and Reds have left three wins out there which should be theirs, and we really should be going into a finals series with the Brumbies on 12 wins and the Reds on 9 or 10. I'm much happier to be in the world where we're annoyed about losses that should have been...

    Brumbies 2019

I think that, if we win the Bulls game, it's probably settled. The Rebels have already taken all they can from us and are still behind. The Tahs and Reds will probably lose at least two games, so are unlikely to make it up.

Super Rugby 2019 Predictions - Aussie Conference

Copying this over from the Brumbies thread: Remaining fixtures in Australian Conference finals contenders: I know it is still mathematically possible for the Sunwolves to make the playoffs, but I will disregard them for this. Brumbies (6 wins, 6 losses):Average 4.75 wins per opponent...

I think that, if we beat the Bulls, we're home and hosed. In fact, I'll just review the whole conference. Remaining fixtures in Australian Conference finals contenders: I know it is still mathematically possible for the Sunwolves to make the playoffs, but I will disregard them for this...

He hasn't had the game experience at Super level at a core period of player mental development. Time is the only test of whether he can now learn those mental parts of the game.

Not a shock but I still hoped we'd get more out of him. I think his role in the positives of the 2017 season are understated and had hopes of seeing him come good here.

Nope, played for Perth in the NRC for a year first. You could claim the technicality of earning the contract in school, but didn't join as a schoolboy. I claim my own technicality :P
