    Wallabies 2023

At the end of the day, based on the players people thought would be in the squad, most people seemed to think the absolute best we could do was get to a semi. Some didn’t think we’d get out of our pool. So I’m not sure there is an argument that Jone’s has left out a bunch of star performers. Sad...

I know there are a lot of surprise picks in the squad - but how good has Schoup’s year been. What a cracking story.

Scorched Earth approach. Okay - I’m on board. If it all ends in disappointment then it probably really isn’t any different to the last 20 yrs.

No. Not my preferred option personally but I can’t see the logical at all in going into the WC with Gordon and Donaldson as your options. JOC (James O'Connor) coming back into contention would seem to me to be up there with John Howard ever becoming Prime Minister

Based on the leaks so far I’m half expecting Sam Kerr to get named. At least it would make QWERTY happy to have a quality kicker. Jokes aside if Quade has been left out does it open the door for Foley to get a recall?

I don’t understand why a third half back wouldn’t be included in the squad. And it seems odd to me it wouldn’t be Lonergan at this late stage.

No - but those sort of decisions are all part of the mix. My understanding is most Kiwi’s hated the thought of Stephen Donald taking the field in the 2011 World Cup. Even after the fact I was amazed how many of the Kiwis I know would only begrudgingly give him credit. He wasn’t a World Beater...

It’s worth noting that the key players who miss selection will be in Europe for the Australia A & Barbarian games. Won’t help covering an injury on the day of the game so I think they’ll take 3 hookers and 3 9s - but if there are any injuries there should be a replacement close at hand. You...

    Queensland Reds 2024

I get what you’re saying and we are seeing this risk play out right now with the Wallabies. On the flip side it is going to help with the development of Faessler, Nonggorr & De Lutiis to be playing in a more dominant scrum and it will be better for all the Reds players to be in a more...

Agree with above - two great signings. Have we retained Fa’agase as well? I thought he was solid this year, particularly towards the end. Would never say no to an upgrade but I feel he’d be a sound addition to the signings already announced.

Interested on your thoughts as to whether you think Harry McLaughlin-Phillips might be a future option at 12 Reg. I’ve not seen much of him but, from what I’ve seen I thought he could be an option - bearing in mind Lynagh will hopefully be a long term option at 10 for the Reds. Not in the next...

I find it weird Tom Wright appears to be completely discarded. By all means drop him out of the 23 - don’t really have a problem with that. But if we have a couple of injuries I’d rather they bring him in then Pietsch or Donaldson. (Or Vunivalu for that matter but it seems like Eddie remains...

A earlier post suggested we should select for the future. Well - that was how I took it at least. In any case, I think he is part of our best squad of 33. The other options are Donaldson, Foley, Lolesio and maybe Hodge. I’d prefer him to all of those.

I seem to recall reading on here that they both played club for Randwick and one of them played 15 there. My recollection was that it was generally Harrison who played 15 - but I assume someone here will be able to confirm if any/all of that is correct.

    Bledisloe 2 2023 @ Dunedin 12:35PM Sat 5 Aug

I think the main thing was that there was still time to win it. I thought the strategy to lock up the scores and back yourself to score again was a good one - unfortunately we weren’t good enough to score again.

Pretty sure Isaac Lucas was 15. Donaldson was the reserve 10.

We might be a snowballs chance in hell but there is no way I want us to go into this World Cup with any other thought then we are picking the best team we can to win now. The British Lions & 27 World Cup come later.
