I thought the game demonstrated that we are better off playing quick upbeat rugby than trying to monster teams. Not that we lack power - but we look much better playing at pace with the ball then playing a kick/defend strategy. Maybe that will fall short with this team that is still very early...

We’d already been warned - so harsh but fair.

    Wallabies 2023

Petaia has had problems with decision making historically (which I acknowledged as I know that is the focus point for many) but not in the last two games with the exception of one dud kick and not in Super rugby this year where he was exceptional. Petaia’s decision making errors have generally...

Yes - I’m sure most people do. I’ll trust the coaching staff to make the right call. Ikitau has been very consistently high level and I won’t have any concerns if he does.

I’m genuinely interested what you are basing that on. He has clear potential but what is he bringing that gets him on the bench ahead of the guys who are there (both of whom are genuine line out options which is something I think we need).

I don’t have a short memory at all. There is a reason every coach rushes to get Petaia into their starting lineup whenever they can. That isn’t a slight on Ikitau - it is a reflection of how good Petaia is even if he has had some issues with injury and decision making in the past.

I pretty much agree with the first line and won’t be surprised or disappointed if Porecki comes straight back in. But Porecki has had plenty of chances and, to date, has done nothing but be adequate. I do give him credit for being accurate at the line out because it is a skill most of our other...

    Wallabies 2023

Ikitau has been great at 13 and I would have considered, until injury, 13 was locked in. But then he got injured and Petaia got his shot and he has been excellent. I’ personally leave Petaia at 13. In fact I would be leave yesterdays starting XV as is, including Arnold. I’m not convinced he...

At the same time our first try came because we knocked back a lockable penalty and went to the lineout. There is definite merit in keeping the scoreboard ticking over but I thought that play helped set up our whole first half in terms of the momentum it created.

I thought there was a reasonable chance that Jones had left out guys like Samu to have a look at options like Gleeson. Since he hasn’t played Gleeson I doubt that was the plan. So I’m not really expecting too many players to be parachuted in late. Like others I’m not convinced of the virtue of...

I think at this point we should persist with Kerevi though. He isn’t 100% but I thought he still showed enough to hold hope it is just a bit of time in the saddle.

I got to make a rare trip to watch Brisbane Brothers play Wests yesterday. JOC (James O'Connor) was out - due to injury I was told. Paisami played but was pretty well contained overall by Hamish Stewart & Josh Flook (I thought Flook in particular was excellent I thought).

Oops - my bad. But Leota got on v Argentina, didn’t he?

I don’t get this. Why do we really need to see it? Why him over others. Not denying he’s a good prospect - but it’s not as if he was a level above in Super rugby. By way of comparison 12 months ago Charlie Gamble was getting this sort of attention and now most people aren’t talking about him...

I guess it depends how granular you want to get. My general point was - it’ll be one of the other - Porecki - it’ll be one or the other - two of Skelton, Arnold, Frost & Phillip - Holloway or Leota - 7 unsure but it does sound like Hooper is still favoured. The point of interest is whether...
