    Reds 2019

It seems strange that we should be congratulating professional players on not giving up. It is their job after all and a very well paid one. Our win-loss ratio is also boosted by having two close wins over the Sunwolves, who only won two games all season and had the axe from Super Rugby hanging over...

    Rnd 17: Reds v Blues

Didn't know that but yes it should lead to a good combination, albeit going back a few years.

'(McGahan) was pretty much in the 'journeyman' category.' Maloula and McGahan are both part of the same evangelical church in Brisbane so maybe they have some form of combination from that relationship.

Yes, a tight race for 3/4 place. Quite a few matches to go though but Souths seem pretty strong to me, being an Easts supporter I am worried about Wests.

    RD 16: QLD v JAGUARES (AKA Argentina) - Lang Park 1/6 7.45

Gav Luka did get on late in the piece, I recall seeing him on tv set up for a lineout. War dance looked great on tv, I liked the fact that they got out there close to the opposition.

Interesting game at Easts today - great first half by the Tigers then they hardly fired for much of the 2nd half - UQ must have been given a great half time talk because they just came back and Easts were giving away a lot of penalties (and two yellows) in the 2nd half before finally Easts...

So, thoughts on the McGahan at 10 and Hegarty at 15 arrangement? Keep it or change back?

    Reds v Chiefs thread

Got to wonder if Thorn coaches the forwards to crawl when tackled close to the line - twice they have had obvious double movements. Either they are just trying it on or they are told to do it.

They have been hit with injuries so a lot of inexperience and then their good young prop got called up to U20 WC squad - great for him but adds to the list of missing players. Last week at Norths they were in the game until the 60th minute and then the quality and experience of Super Rugby level players...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yes, nice for the Brumbies to have a Sunday afternoon game but in the interests of getting audience share it would have been better to have had it on Saturday evening. It seems a shame that when one of the Australian teams is in SA so very late viewing time that they can't avoid scheduling an...

Really? They've lost the pokie machine money? Why? I don't know anything about the setup but I always saw SB from a junior rugby perspective as very healthy with their referee development program etc. I had heard that they only had one team in some of the junior age groups which surprised me...

Easts coaches position themselves down one end on the tryline and stay there the whole game, Souths I think seemed to do the same the other week when I saw them at Easts. The water boys carrying instructions are commonplace in Super Rugby - David Pocock was the water boy for the Brumbies last...

    Rd 12: Reds v Sunwolves, Lang Park, 3/5/19 @ 7:45pm

And meanwhile junior representative girls teams are trying to find ways to scrape money together to fund sending a team to Sydney to play NSW while a coach gets taught how to communicate? Something is wrong there.

Yes Souths scrum in particular was smashed but ball in hand they looked really good and defence was strong. Some of those Souths outside backs looked dangerous.

Easts vs Souths was a good game to watch too. Souths looked good. Glad to hear that the other games were of a high standard too. Looking like a really competitive 2019.

According to the table on the Reds site Norths are 2nd from bottom now. Good on them, we need a competitive premier competition.

He should see out his contract - happy to sign it at the time and take the money so he should stick with it and perform for his team until the end.

Yes, probably went 5 minutes past full time as Easts had phase after phase trying to get away from their tryline. Good defence by Souths but their scrum struggled (2 penalty tries from scrums).

I see Matt McGahan is named for Norths - is this his first appearance in Premier Rugby?

Not sure about the 'Qld pathway' when it comes to Lukhan S-L as he's a NSW import who played Shute Shield for Randwick and got selected for Australian U20s from there then moved to Qld for a pro contract - that's not a Qld pathway. Tupou is similar, imported from NZ into the Reds development.
