    New Zealand vs Ireland

On the scrum - it was a 50/50 call. Very very close to a legitimate 90 degrees, but maybe not quite. The biggest decision of the night, I reckon.

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

I do perfect Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward voices if you want to ask me next time I'm drunk.

The crocodile roll ruck clear out!

Nah, just mocking Fanatic for his self-righteousness. I'm not out to ban the croc roll, but I'd like the law-makers to take a look at it. Obviously, grabbing anyone around the head and twisting is fucking insane and they should do some time. Grabbing around the body and rolling feels dangerous...

The crocodile roll ruck clear out!

So, problem solved, Fanatic. Thanks! Sorry for being stupid.

    It sounds fine!

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

Grubster, you've cut me open with your sharp wit and psychological probing. [sobs :( ] I see things so much more clearly now. Maybe, for the first time in my whole life. Thank you. Thank you so much.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

I'm not keen on the recent use of the crocodile roll in cleanouts. :) And I'm just going to say it - I like hands in the ruck, ARC style. For me, it made the ruck a real armwrestle, and put the focus back on physicality rather than timing yourself against the ref's patience, which is what...

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

I'm not sure that true fetchers ever "move away from the ball." In the SH, we say that you must allow the tackled player to play the ball. So, the fetcher waits 0.0003 seconds before getting his hands on the pill. Anyway, this probably belongs in the laws we want to change thread.

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

Yeah, it's an interesting idea, Bullrush, that the tackler has to roll away (instead of immediately get to his feet and play the ball). This is what one Aussie said on that site: When you read those laws in black and white, it suggests that a lot of southern hemisphere loose flanker work is...

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

OK, the title was provocative, so I wasn't taking the high road there. But Richie's involvement is important. When it's just a couple of no-name thugs from the Joburg Lions doing it, then it's not as important. When Richie McCaw makes it his PLan A, then that is worth raising as an issue. I'll...

    Feedback - the 2nd G&GR PlayUp trial

Logged in from the laptop with 5 mins to go. Enjoyed the banter with Adam and Rocky.

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

I'm not blind, I realise that when McCaw plays fair, he is, or was, one of the greatest players of the game. That won't change what most non-Kiwis currently think of him, and how we'll think of him when he's retired. By spending an ever-increasing percentage of his time on the field playing...

Ah. Not very "dyna" after all.

Is there really a team called the Dynaboars? I'm trying to imagine their mascot.

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

Do you mean cheat better? Or if you prefer, "play the ref" better? That's where I don't agree. When he is retired, all he can claim is that he was the most innovative cheat of his generation. He could have chosen to make the game of rugby better instead of worse, as he has done. To me, rugby is...

G&GR Wallaby Player of the Year: v WAL (1st test)

3 Ioane 2 Genia 1 Higgenbatty (Why don't these QLD bludgers play well at other stadia?)

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

I think the ease of the win raises awkward questions about the Wallabies. I reckon sides like South Africa, England Scotland, even Italy always have a shot against the Wallabies because they play such a hard forward-dominated game. Wales play our perfect game plan. They love the running game...

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

The Lions again. OK, I'm being completely non-trolling here. McCaw cleaned out that way all night. It was really noticeable that he has adopted this method as his Plan A in the ruck.

McCaw finds a new way to cheat

Excellent research Dam0. The way George Smith did it, it looked fine. That Lion, though, was around the neck. Dangerous.
