    Australian Rugby / RA

Gold Digger has a good interview with Rod McQueen on this. He worked a lot with AFL and league coaches to understand what professional football looked like through the transition from amateurism. Things like how to train seven days a week. How to get fit for a pro football season etc etc. He...

It's not just an open selection policy though. In contrast to, say, South Africa, how many of our top 35 players are also eligible for another national side, and if we pay them less, how many would explore those options? The comps we pick from for soccer and B-ball don't have nationality tie...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I feel that a competitive Wallaby team is important, and we have no idea how bad things could really get if our national team falls further (which may happen anyway). I also think that having more teams of players earning less money probably means our Wallabies are worse than they are now (both...

It's not the only way forward, but doing something different doesn't guarantee success either. Pay our domestic players less, lose more potential Wallabies OS and chances are we end up with a worse Wallaby side. Would the Lions tour again if they felt there was little chance of competition...

Lions tour $$$ is pre-pissed. It's just going straight to repay the loan. It'll be the WC $$$ that they piss away

    Wallabies 2024

Tahs and Force were just unofficial training groups who didn't even get together. Will they bother to "leak" Reds and Rebels if the squad is announced in a couple of weeks anyway? Reds will all be training for the Wales game anyway

    Queensland Reds 2025

The Reds have won the comp more recently than the Yanks too. Have a look how many mullets were cheering last years Champ's coach doing his breakdance routine. There are far more.important things for a coach to focus on

    Queensland Reds 2025

Perhaps he should have let the players groom themselves how they wanted and his teams may have done better than a 45% win record?

    Brumbies 2024

I'm relying on Austadiums who are normally pretty accurate but several reports of 8,800 announced at the ground here now. https://www.austadiums.com/sport/event/30224

    Brumbies 2024

8017 was the official number. I agree though, thought there might be more there than that

    Chiefs v Reds 7/6 QF

It certainly had a bit of a "Bledisloe in NZ" game feel about it. A week of talking ourselves into the possibility, and then 15 minutes later they are standing over us with our still beating heart in their red right hand.

Quarter Final: Brumbies v Highlanders Sat 8th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Rob Valetini is such an amazing player. Makes metres in contact better than just about anyone else going around at the moment. So many time when the Brumbies are.in a bit of trouble he gets over the advantage line and then they are off. I reckon he's under rated even now, as a John Eales medallist.

    Chiefs v Reds 7/6 QF

Yeah, at the end of the day, points is the only rugby stat that really matters at all

    Chiefs v Reds 7/6 QF

Guess which team is which, and guess the obscured numbers!

    Australian Rugby / RA

As an RA chair recently found out, RA operates in accordance to how their voting members want, and the potential for losing control of the Super Rugby teams is not what enough of the members currently want
  16. Strewthcobber

    Australian Rugby / RA

Remembering that RA currently represent the member unions, the super Rugby teams, and current professional players, and it's not working. Everyone blames RA, but that's a bit too simplistic. RA do what their voting members tell them too. This is the root of why the game is in the state it's...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Would require constitutional change at RA, and the member unions and Super Rugby rugby teams to vote themselves out of existence. Most of the issues being discussed here, requires this step. Which is why it hasn't happened and probably will never happen
  18. Strewthcobber

    Chiefs v Reds 7/6 QF

It's a tough old sport. The Reds were in the QF until the 76th minute last year in a 5 & 10 season and despite being a better team this year, were out of it far earlier in an 8 & 7 season.

    Waratahs 2025

Jamie Panadaran, so take it for what it's worth, but I thought this was an interesting article on NSW rugby and the struggles
