    Rugby News from unexpected places

Scotland considering playing Chile in June. Which would be quite the boom for Los Condores as it would serve as an ideal warm up to their two match RWC qualifying series with the USA.

The REC kicked off last night. With Romania getting the better of Russia at home 23-15. Spain putting the Netherlands to the sword 43-0 in Madrid but the big surprise was the battle in Tbilisi between Georgia and Portugal which ended 25 a piece.

    Sydney Subbies 2022

I get that it's a tough slog for a number reasons notably lack of resources. I noted you mention your crossing paths with Doorn at the trial. Did you get on his case about helping out the clubs west of the ANZAC Bridge not in the Shute Shield?

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Here's another one I've just seen. India now pays it's national team. It's scaled dependent on length of involvement from a week to a month. Whether they are on tour. Plus, bonus's for wins and placing in tournaments. It's not a lot. If they trained together in the squad for a month it would...

Sevens 2021/22 (World Series, Oceania, Comm Games & R7WC)

A lot of them are converts. Which need more competitive games to improve. That looks like it will come this year with the launch of PR7s inaugural full season this year and the launch event for US Rugby 7s Major League in October.

Trial Match - Waratahs v Brumbies at Bowral

Bit sloppy. Not helped by the rain. Though that shouldn't be an excuse for professional players. Tahs should win at least 1 game this season. Looked a bit bigger and fitter all round.

Sevens 2021/22 (World Series, Oceania, Comm Games & R7WC)

Yeah. That's been mentioned. I understand the idea of trying to create a more commercially attractive model in terms of the shorter timeframe. My question is whether it will lead to a more or less inclusive structures. If it involves more nations both men's and women's then I would at least be...

Sevens 2021/22 (World Series, Oceania, Comm Games & R7WC)

Related to the World Series. There's some speculation that WR (World Rugby) are looking to revamp the series with a turn to looking at more regional structures and less overall WS events. No idea on how many of each. But if they moved to say 4-6 regionally based events and then 6 WS events what that drive...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Wiki has them with 13 clubs and a touch over 3000 players. Though they've apparently run a 7s set up in recent years at the Uni level that has 21 schools involved. I think the timing is the most interesting. Not too long after the President of the League One system mentions looking outward for...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Yeah. I remain fairly sceptical about how likely that is but thought it was something interesting to add. I do know there was some movement with a NZ franchise to enter a team in GRR based out of the country had GRR continued.

Here's one from right out of left field. Apparently there's a plan to introduce a professional league in Taiwan. Is it realistic? Probably not. Still pretty interesting.
