2011 IRB Player of the Year

Nonu and Kaino have been the most consistently excellent performers this year, based only on what I've seen, have had great World Cups, and with NZ in the final, more chances to win votes. Both should poll well in Player of the World Cup voting as well. With respect to the World Cup, he may not...

3-2-1 Wallabies best on ground (RWC semi final)

Hard to rank them when nearly all were outplayed by their opposite number. If Digby's opposite was Kahui, he would have been the only one who looked better than his direct opponent in black.

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Your box kick is only as good as your chasers. The NZ backs were brilliant in defusing what actually weren't bad kicks.

    Well done boys

With Sully and Barbarian here. If you don't think the Wallabies deserve any credit or support, there are a number of other threads on which you can vent.

Who was MOTM? I thought that Dagg and Jane were outstanding at the back for the Blacks, and the skipper was heroic, amongst others.

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Very good point Chief! Was this the youngest team in the Cup, alongside Wales? Not sure why dipping out of a World Cup in the semi's, to the World No. 1 ranked team no less, would be viewed as a failure.

Haven't read too many other comments but well done All Blacks! Played like the No.1 ranked team in the world and thoroughly deserved the win. Love to see them take it out next week...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

What an outstanding result! Everything I've been reading on this forum, by way of comment and results, suggested that the NZ boys were going to smack OZ schools. Magnificent effort, the boys and coaches are to be commended.

The IRB is getting too big for its boots

What I actually find most annoying is England getting away with their behaviour....

It will be a miracle if they retain all that talent beyond next year. The big question is who will be off contract then. It's early days yet, but if a few of the lesser lights step up there may be an opportunity to keep the likes of Genia and Cooper fresh through rotation.

The IRB is getting too big for its boots

Would it be easy for OZ and NZ to lobby other countries and change the composition of the IRB board? Can't believe what has gone on this last week or so......

You seem to be very well balanced Slim...massive chip on both shoulders! I think Antony's comments are very well made.

I hear Dom Fuller got Player of the Year at Easts. He has had a great season and thoroughly deserves the award.

    National U/16 Championships 2011

There is a Buchanan playing second row for Qld Uni who goes alright. A brother perhaps? Re the 2006 merit team, two of them, O'Connor and To'omua, have gone on to become Wallabies, and O'Connor was selected as a 12 in that side.

Don't know the lad or his family but this kind of news is never good to hear. Condolences.

Fair enough Jets. I guess my opinion is based on the fact that he inherited a basketcase that had been presided over by a series of coaches, and he had to do a lot of the rebuilding. A lot of that young talent was very raw at the time and Mooney showed a lot of faith to run with it. There may...
