Great news. I had the privilege of coaching Dave when he was younger. I'm not afraid to say he could be a little scary even at 16. Wonderful kid though and deserves all the success he can get.

I think that is the case for U20 National selection but I wouldn't be surprised if he played for QLD as they want to develop him for Super Rugby and this would be a great platform. The tournament can't just be a Aust 20's selection trial, it has to cater for thing like this too.

I think Sydney is also benefitting from the Auckland 9's. People are getting accustomed to the carnival atmosphere of such an event and are keen for something in their own back yard. It will be interesting to see if the NRL ever bring the 9's to Sydney.
