There was a whole heap of chat prior to Darren Coleman’s appointment that the Waratahs coach needed to be someone with intimate knowledge of Shute Shield rugby to truly ’get’ NSW rugby and be successful (probably perpetuated by gronks like yourself). It was basically thinly veiled xenophobia.

I think Halangahu seems pretty compelling- experience at a (successful) professional club in the Southern Hemisphere, and played for the Waratahs and Sydney Uni, so should be able to deflect some of that Shute Shield rubbish. I think he’d be relatively affordable too.

There was some rubbish propaganda being perpetuated that the coach of the Waratahs needed to have a connection to the Shute Shield to really understand NSW rugby. Turns out the coach really needs experience in professional high performance environments and not a semi amateur one.

He stole a cheque from the Rebels and robbed more talented players from Wallabies positions for years- he wasn’t very good. Waratahs are a powerhouse club having a poor decade.

I think Reilly’s been pretty good really. We haven’t found him heaps of space but he’s down well with little room and he’s strong in contact. He’s not the first bloke I’d look to drop.

I’m confident coaches gave him the option to box kick or run on turnover ball based on his discretion. I’m confident he took the wrong option every single time.

You’re arguing over right Wright but no one is batting an eyelid over a proposed White/ Donaldson combination. Whites the guy who has disappointed over a decade and box kicked the ball away- we Have other options.

He’s still in the top 3 halfbacks in the country. His core halfback skills are underrated (ask Dave Rennie) but what sets him apart are his effort plays. He’s constantly leading the defensive line, kick chases and is the best supporting player in AUS rugby.

Gamble is also a superior player.
