Brisbane City - NRC Team Official Thread

Im still yet to be impressed by the second rowers going around. McDuling hasn't exactly thrilled me, I expected more from a bloke whos been retained by the Reds for three years with minimal game time, thought he'd have something to show. I guess it goes to show there isn't a whole lot around...

    Reds 2015

Tongan Thor looks like he could take a few tips from Quade. Everyone in he NRC threads has commented on how unfit a few of the Qld props look but I think this guy takes the cake (no pun intended). I know that sounds a bit harsh and he's only young, obviously hasn't been in a professional setup...

Brisbane City vs QLD country @ Ballymore (28 Oct 2014)

JJ has been playing well at this level and obviously Premier grade. The more 'unstructured' game plans and scrambling defense is what he thrives off. Obviously the guy has talent but I think it would be hard to justify his selection in the Reds still based off his performances in S15 last year...

Brisbane City vs QLD country @ Ballymore (28 Oct 2014)

Interesting City persisting with the 12. Kerevi 13. White combination. I wouldn't mind seeing Quade come on at 12 late in the game and push Kerevi to 13, something different but may leave the City backline a bit vulnerable defensively.

I never meant that at all. In fact I selected a team and was then told Khunt in the centres was 'nonsensical'. I'm merely saying why shut down someones idea and pigeon hole a player to a position when all we're doing is basing this off an assumption of where he will fit best. My post above...

    Reds 2015

I think dictating where Karmichael is going to play when no one has seen him play a professional game of rugby in years is nonsensical. Until we see him on a field playing I think it remains to be seen where he is best suited to.

I actually feel JOC (James O'Connor) may end up playing 15 with Hunt in the centers. You need to fit JOC (James O'Connor) somewhere in the side and we have plenty of wingers (more depth in the wings than in the centers IMO), I've said before I think Hunt's ball skills (presuming he hasn't lost them!) and ability could make him...

    Reds 2015

With the NRC giving Kerevi so much exposure I'd dare say there will be a few game plans made around negating his offensive skills. The Reds coaching staff will need to be aware of this and I hope make the necessary adjustments for round 1 next year. He needs to be used as more than a 'cut out to...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

I wouldn't be surprised if JOC (James O'Connor) and Thor end up at Brothers. JOC (James O'Connor) for the various reasons i've listed before (mates, school ties etc) and Thor because Brothers Prem Colts program has been one of the best over the last 2-3 years and if the QRU have a say in his placement then it would be one of...

    Reds 2015

Not saying I necessarily agree with this but I have a feeling we're more likely to hear the announcement of props being signed from the NRC rather than an international. I get a feeling the QRU would feel slightly inclined to look within first and show the benefits of the new competition by...

Qld Country - official NRC thread

Hopefully the Reds are able to identify who the best backup will be through the NRC though. Prior to this year it would have been a gamble on who had the best Premier Rugby season but at least they're seeing the top 3 or 4 blokes going up against other S15 standard front rows. I'm sure an able...

Qld Country - official NRC thread

Similar situation with the halfbacks, City are currently stacked and Country are short. City have quite a few decent props and have to leave one of either Kite, Talaki or Fagaase out of their side each week, any of those guys would be great for Country.

Brisbane City vs QLD country @ Ballymore (28 Oct 2014)

Two of the more exciting teams in the comp (qld bias of course) and with QC (Quade Cooper) on deck this should make for an even more exciting game. Only thing is supposed to be wet and miserable all weekend from most reports at this stage, hopefully holds off for some good running rugby. As a GPS supporter...

    Reds 2015

Without trying to get too far off the Reds topic but whats the go with that Churchie team? Have most of the boys been there for their entire schooling? Or quite a few imports (ie only been there yr 11 and 12?). They sound like a super talented side with most of the guys picking up contracts.

Im also a fan of the idea but wish they'd come up with some better merchandise options. Some training wear would have been nice - shorts, singlets etc. Some may disagree but I've never really seen the need for a supporters scarf in the queensland climate.

Haha Filth I guess when the three most senior coaches at the club move on it creates something to talk about!

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

We've spoken a lot about the coaching changes for 2015 and how they might affect the Premier rugby landscape but its only just dawned on me recently that the NRC might cause a few headaches as well. With the new competition in place (and hopefully sticking around) it may mean clubs need to take...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

eagle I'm on your side but I think the point is also that a player like Stowers would need to put in a lot of effort to get to premier standard again. He isn't past it but putting big hits on and busting tackles in 2nd grade is pretty much a given for a bloke who was playing premier grade only a...

    Reds 2015

With club rugby being played on Saturday's, a large chunk of supporters probably want to stay 'fresh' for their games and would rather stay at home to watch the game. Not saying thats the only reason but definitely contributes I believe.
