    Reds 2015

Unfortunately, I think Kotze, who I am a big fan of, is past consideration. I believe he is in his late 20s and although a good club player, probably isn't up to the standard of S15. I believe he was in the Brumbies training squad last year and some SA teams before that and hasn't been able to...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

At the GPS dinner the other night Shane Arnold announced 2014 was his last year as Premier head coach. It wasn't specified if he was taking another full-time role somewhere but confirmed his ongoing roles with Aus 20s and Brisbane NRC played a part in the decision. Good luck to Shane in the future.

    Reds 2015

The Northland team also featured Sione 'Nons' Kite who played flyhalf at GPS for a number of years recently.

    Reds 2015

I have no knowledge of the subject but I wouldn't be surprised if the jerseys were given a fairly major design overhaul next year, although I think the current ones are great. I may be wrong but didn't the change to these more 'red' jerseys as opposed to the traditional maroon colouring happen...

Brisbane City vs. Sydney Stars - NRC Round 1, 21/08 @ Ballymore

Surprised to hear the lines were long. I thought a crowd of 3,400 would be rather manageable. The Reds trial game I attended there earlier this year was a proper shambles and it would have had at least double the crowd.

Even as a GPS supporter I was slightly surprised by Kotze's selection. He is a massive presence on the field in terms of voice and leadership (I could hear him through the refs mic a few times) but a part from a couple of good performances at the end of the season was mostly injured or went...

    Reds 2015

Despite the fact Brisbane NRC are playing him at 12, he is still very much the type of player the Reds and Wallabies are looking for at 13. I realise there is a pecking order so to speak but if Kerevi continues to play well and possibly a few players under perform in the Rugby Championship I...

Was my first chance seeing some Premier Rugby stars last night in the NRC game, was very impressed with the Brisbane team. What club does Matt Mafi play for? The reserve front row of Feao, Mafi and Kite looked bloody unreal, in a massively intimidating kind of way.

    Reds 2015

I've said this before and I'm sure others who have seen Kerevi play at club level will agree that no matter what competition he's in (Premier comp, NRC, S15) he's still been able to be a dominant ball runner and play the game how he wants it. His ceiling is very high. I'd go as far as to say if...

    Reds 2015

Honestly in last nights game Samu looked like he was playing around in attack, he had a big grin on his face most of the time and was still dominant. He was found out in defence a few times though playing in the unfamiliar 12 channel. He'll be a big difference maker for the Reds in 2015...

Seems to me a few clubs will be focusing on front row recruiting/converting during the off-season. I know its been mentioned on here before but with the rule changes it may entice more guys to give it a go. I know at GPS this year the club was fairly light on in props across all grades and colts.

Brisbane City vs. Sydney Stars - NRC Round 1, 21/08 @ Ballymore

I believe the NRL leaves the scheduling on the last 5 rounds 'open' to some extent until mid-way through the season. Teams only know who they will be playing and where but not the day/time etc. Very convenient of them in this situation...

    Reds 2015

I read the article regarding Hunt and the NRL. Obviously I know nothing more than everyone else here but to me it just sounds like the manager trying to get more $$$ for his client. I think Hunt has committed to the Reds but they are trying to work out the final details of his contract and...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

Tip - not sure if it changes your opinion but Sunnybank finished 2nd on 53 points and Brothers finished 3rd on 56 points. Not exactly a massive ladder difference there to show 'the best team' taking home the bacon. Side note - which team scored the first try? It would be rather ironic if...

Brisbane City - NRC Team Official Thread

Not to pigeon hole a player too much but some simply aren't built to be ball players. Obviously a varied skill set can be helpful but in a sense it can also give players too many options when they should be focusing on playing their role - in Kerevi's case he's a strong ball carrier and strike...

Brisbane City - NRC Team Official Thread

I'm interested to see how Kerevi goes at 12, I personally am not a fan. From memory he hasn't played there at club level. His skill set of being a strong ball runner who has the ability to push outside of players becomes negated a bit by playing him in the tighter channel. It really doesn't do...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

I think criticizing teams from any club lower grades for not having a contested scrum is a bit unfair. Safety is the first priority in scrums and the fact is once it gets down to those 3rd/4th/Friday night comps the number of trained front rowers is going to diminish. If we're talking...

TT, GPS Reggies only lost one game during the season. As you said, they were clearly the best side in the Premier Reserve comp and all season the club was fairly confident they'd get the job done. On another note, must be tough for Brothers Prem Colts players and staff, two years in a row...

    QLD Colts 2014

Agree with Jets. GPS had plenty of strike power out wide and guys who were able to get over the line, but there was no one there to provide them with control and execution once Tuttle went to Prem Grade.
