    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

I think it's more that they lacked the balls to do anything. They came crawling back to JO'N to resign him as a quick fix and it worked for a few years but they really needed to have some who was a better long term option who was going to produce long term results rather than save their own face...

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

Schatz has gotten bigger this year, hasn't he? Or is it just that standing next to Quirky puts things in perspective? hahaha. Nah I think in the long run Higgers will be straight back into the fold and we will have a very mobile back row in Mowen, Higgers, Pocock/Gill/Hooper.

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

For Robbie's Sake I think he needs to go back to NZ and try and get another Super Rugby coaching role. We saw it throughout his wallabies tenure that he tried turning them into an NZ team, especially towards the end of his tenure. And although this might not work with our talent pool, he can still do...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

The impression I got was that the coaching panel made the selections and Dingo had the final say. So in Dingo land that means he was the only selector.... Because if anyone disagreed they were outta there!! By the way, is there a press conference being held by the ARU or something today...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

Cassius88 Train Without a Station Just to be clear, by absolute mess I was talking about what appears to be massive issues with younger players and the team culture at the moment. I didn't mean that we are in a rebuilding phase where we needed to blood new players etc. etc. Don't get me wrong...

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

I suspect Link will put Cooper in the Front line but not in the 10 Channel as Dingo did with O'Connor later on in the Lions series. But this all depends on who is selected at 15 and whether he sees them as having equivalent counter attacking ability as Quade. It may be that we see Folau back...

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

Fixed that for you. This is going to reignite the old QC (Quade Cooper) debates but I think, apart from goal kicking, he is actually a very good distributor, tactical kicker, game manager and aligner. I am not saying he is the traditional flyhalf, but that in no way means he cannot take on the core 10...

    For Sale: One Test 10

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/rugby/james-oconnor-kurtley-beale-party-on-at-kings-cross-as-wallabies-coach-robbie-deans-is-bounced/story-fnh5q2e7-1226676224407 Jesus christ, what idiots. They really know how to repay the goodwill Deans entrusted in them hey? It's one thing to be a young...

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

Agree on this. Wouldn't put it past him to make some controversial decisions on pivotal positions. But when you say conservatively, I think that will mean playing tested combinations that he knows (9,10 surprise surprise) for a Rugby Championship that opens up in 6 weeks time. Even if he...

    Cheerio Deans

Can't help but feel that Deans is the victim of some seriously average management by the ARU board as much as himself....... The way they have conducted business since re-appointing JO'N is farcical and I hope we are seeing the start of a new era with Pulver and now Ewen. Although his new...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

Are you sure that's how it will work? I thought he'd be straight into the ARU headquarters starting to sort out the absolute mess he has inherited.

Just watched the ABC news story on repeat about 5 times. Such a good feeling, yewww!

    long term coach?

''I'm biased because I grew up playing with Ewen and I think he has done enough in Australian rugby et cetera to be installed in the position,'' Cheika said. ''He's very professional and he knows what he's doing and he's got great experience and experience counts at that level. ''Just as much I...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

Anyone know if there will be changes within the ARU as well?? There may be at least one board member change in Sir Peter Cosgrove as rumour has it he will be appointed GG if the Libs win the next election but that is circumstantial rather than structural. Anyone heard anything?

    Cheerio Deans

Don't think we need to speculate on the 10...... Link has made it pretty clear who will be wearing that jumper at the start at least. Wouldn't put it past him to set up To'omua in a succession plan or Cooper at 15 in the future though.

    long term coach?

Under Pulver's new arrangement, he gets to chose who is assistants are so I don't think we'll find out until he's sorted out all the contractual details etc. etc. Also interesting to note the Ewen is strongly endorsed by Cheiks.

    long term coach?

Highlanders also play 'schoolboy footy' I hear.

    Cheerio Deans

It is widely known that McKenzie rejected the offer because he didn't think he was ready for the role. So we can go on all day about "what ifs" but even he obviously admitted his coaching ability and maturity was not ready for the Wallabies. It didn't happen, and it never would've happened so...
