    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Yup enforcer - UQ and Sydney Uni share a major sponsor, one of our commitee members (a former Colt of UQ club) has the distinction of playing in a Sydney Uni GF win in every grade from 1st grade down to 4th (as he got older and slower he moved down) in addition to being their former GM (or...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Which one are you referring to Jets? He played in all three Colts GFs, I can't remember his third grade GF but he was definitely in a playing jersey for that one, and for the Premier grade GF win he was out injured with a scaphoid fracture (I know because he was the worst water boy EVER and if...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

How was the side selected? Was it a nominations process where clubs sent in nominations, or is it a merit-based thing where the best club players got the call-up? Who were the selectors? I'm sure I could find out the answers to these questions if I fossicked, but isn't this the beauty of...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Thanks BigDog- what I love about GPS as a club is that they don't use injuries & rep duties as an excuse for not winning games. That you only mentioned these issues when asked (after losing some bloody close games & some heartbreaking momentum swings) - well for what its worth, i think it shows...

    QLD Premier Colts 2012

Between Premier colts & Premier grade, there is no limit on how many grades games you play because it's the one comp. I believe the rule still exists in the Brisbane club comp (what we call 1st grade, Colts 1 etc) but I haven't checked for a while.

    Women's Rugby Union

Here's why I love women's rugby. The Uni girls were getting taped when they realised the Souths Colts 2 side didn't have a huge amount of support. So the girls went to tunnel on the Colts 2 side of another club. It may be the only time the Souths Colts 2 side has been tunnelled onto a field...

THAT TOO!! The benefits of Uni as a club postponing games until after Uni holidays is grossly exaggerated - everyone is going through the same issues. Yes, we probably have more uni students than some/many, but everyone's in the same boat this time of year!!

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

I love this idea HJ - to have built in "wet weather weekends" into the season which, if they aren't needed, are simply byes, would be fantastic. Where clubs are able, like Uni & Wests have done twice this year now, to play the Premier game very shortly after it should've been held, and then the...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

I think if we (Uni) wanted to use a "get out of jail free card" it would've been for last weekend, since Uni actually have slightly more players available this weekend than last week. Last Saturday was the final day of exams and there were some big ones on, it seems. And I think most of the...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

As Jets said, the University owns the fields, not the club. It's THEIR showpiece oval with the athletics track around it. THEY say whether we can train on them (and lately we have been doing a lot of sessions on the running track, on the grassed areas AROUND the fields, the netball courts & even...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

My point was that they were able to field multiple teams (therefore they have numbers) and that despite not fielding a Premier side, they have a reserve grade side that came bloody close. That combined with a facility upgrade that puts them at least on par with the Premier clubs I think they're...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

SouthernX I haven't had a chance to look into it, but given there the Brisbane comp & the Premier grade comp are 2 separate comps which have 2 separate rules, there may be provisions- (eg: Premier Colts can go between Colts & Grade without affecting their finals eligibility whereas Colts 1...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Yes that was the score line at Uni. The try of the match though was a brilliant solo effort on full-time to the Stingrays player (O'Toole???). Also, the score doesn't reflect how good the Stingrays goal-line defence is- all Uni tries were scored from 5m or more out- trying to score while...

Beale and Cooper in boozy incident

I think what David Curry meant by a "minor incident" is that what happened to the security guard was no worse than what often happens on any other night. I think it's his way of saying that he wasn't going to make out like it was worse because it was KB (Kurtley Beale) and QC (Quade Cooper). If you remove the identity of...

Beale and Cooper in boozy incident

Look, I think deep down we all know what really happened here. KB (Kurtley Beale) and QC (Quade Cooper) were "relaxing" after a spot of cardio training along the river: both boys are notoriously dedicated trainers, and both have been concerned about the impact of hotel food on their athletic physiques, in combination with...

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

Is it nitpicky of me to point out that he called Bruce the moron, yet failed to use the punctuation standards one might reasonably expect of someone who writes professionally? I understand the twitter 140 character limit, but using capitals on someone's name doesn't expend extra characters...

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

Haha - I don't need anyone to try to sound fancier with wankier writing - I want them to sound LESS wanky and more understandable! Easier to read. More accessible to journos who are just trying to get an article done super-quickly and get on to the next one! And to Mrs Bowen - if you're...

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

My understanding of the purpose of a media release is to be simply and easily read by journos etc so they may simply, quickly, and effectively communicate the content to their readers & listeners. Please, can the ARU Media Unit please take a bow for this gem? Western Force skipper David Pocock...
