Premier Rugby 2013 Ins and Outs

Jets Blomfield will be a big loss for Bank- such a hard player on the ball (plays with seemingly no regard for his own safety). I never had much to do with him but he seems like a great club-man off-field too?

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

For word count nerds: ARU did a personal best of 1241 words Mine was an economical and readable 832 words (including Deans quotes I refrained from hacking)

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

I'm baaaack... Qantas Wallabies team named to play France WTF? And what is so wrong with Prop Sekope Kepu and lock Kane Douglas come into the starting side for the Qantas Wallabies’ Test against France in Paris [6:45am AEDT Sunday]. You’ll also note that I removed the NSW Waratahs...

A single like for this just didn't seem enough. Take a real look at what happens at Uni & Sunnybank and you'll find that both clubs go after schoolboys and juniors. No club in their right mind would throw money at 17 or 18yo kids hoping they will make it- even playing Aussie schoolboys doesnt...

    Grumbles gone?

Nope - you're good. You have a long way to go until you qualify for the ARU Media Unit

James O'Connor, other podcast guest - Questions

To be fair, I'm quietly confident that many, if not most, of the Wallabies have been on the receiving end of a spray from Squeaky at one time or another. But it's unusual that, if it happened, Squeaky unloaded in front of "the general public". Not inconceivable, but certainly uncharacteristic

    Grumbles gone?

Sorry to abridge your quoted post daz, but I like this post so strongly I wanted to do more than just "like" it but I didn't want to slow down the page loads for everyone else by keeping it long

    QLD u/19 Squad 2012

Happy to disagree td about the speed of the game. My knowledge comes from watching close up, but unlike you I haven't had the experience of playing both. Re: lifting off shorts - you're right. It's not enforced at all until the teams play at Ballymore on finals weekend. Then you can bet on...

Wow EA - you just cut right through all our fluff and whimsy and nailed the allegory.

    ARU Board meeting

I assumed he just used clippers from Big W ($35 for 3 years of haircuts). Doesn't look to be much artistry there. At least not enough to sit there long enough to discuss potential shifts to league. There's a chance I'm focussing on the wrong bit here.

    Grumbles gone?

Perhaps the biggest issue with Growden was that he didn't have that other journo to be his counterpoint- the other viewpoint or the analysis man/woman- that he had earlier in his career when newspapers sold regardless. If you look at GAGR as an example, we have more than 10 (help Gagger?)...

    QLD u/19 Squad 2012

Sorry rugbywatch I should've been clearer: The Premier Colts game is super-fast. Faster than any open-grade going around. With the de-powered scrums and the modified lineouts (lifting off shorts, not legs) and the fact that you are playing against other players your age (rather than looking...

    QLD u/19 Squad 2012

True- Terrin played between Colts 1 & Prems all year. I rate him as one of the hardest (ie: toughest & niggliest) colts I've seen in years. IMHO his game suits grades/non-colts - such as yesterday's game- more so than the speed of Prem colts.

You might be right about the captaincy there Galloper. Could've been a Poulton-led side? After all these years my years can get jumbled. Apologies if I'm wrong about that.

Quade telling it how it is

Do I think Quade's issues with the ARU have merit? Yes. Do I think he's gone about it well? No What do I think he could've done differently? Not gone public with problems in the media without having a clear agenda or solutions. Before he said anything he should have thought about what he...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

In the aftermath of the club rugby season, I wanted to highlight the efforts and involvement at club rugby of some of the Reds (and one bloke from the Force) at Uni. I encourage people from other clubs to talk about the involvement of their players at their clubs - it's nice to recognise some of...

It was hotter than it looked too Vidiot. Bugger me. I was looking for the breeze that came through in the last 2 weekends at Ballymore to cool it down. Nup. Stayed f***ing hot. The sweat on the ball could have played a hand in the dropped ball, just going off what some of the boys were saying...
