    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

I think I agree with that. The majority attend for a variety of reasons and a select number attend primarily for football?

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

Which makes me a little sceptical about whether they have actually ramped up the import situation. A school cant expect to be well regarded or maintain a high enrolment based largely on it's rugby teams results. I'm sure the majority of people who send their kids to eddies still epxect them to...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

Before this discussion gets out of control and serious accusations are made, can anybody say with aboslute certainty that eddies IS again in the act of offering kids scholarships of any kind which is leading to these 'scholars' eventually playing 1st XV rugby there?

Are you able to name any and nominate which club or school they originally came from? I was aware of kids being given scholarships from the clubs, mostly from Queanbeyan but I did not know kids from other schools had relocated to Eddies on scholarships.

I suspect you may be right and some pressure from the eddies community may be in play and they are applying pressure for results again. Not sure what the current headmasters stance is, I do know he is a rugby man however as he formerly coached the Marist 2nd XV for several years when he was...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

No doubt this topic of scholarships at St Edmunds will draw denial from some quarters of the eddies fraternity. However a quick glance at some statistcis poses questions about this subject. Doing a comparison between they and Marist you will see that Marist has an enrolment of 1600+ students...

Out of interest is anybody able to nominate exactly which players in the Eddies 1st XV are on some form of scholarship/bursary etc. I saw the game on Saturday and I was amazed at how big some of the eddies kids were, they were monstrous compared with Marist. The Marist kids showed some real guts...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

It's pretty unfortunate really, personally I'd like to see Eddies just keep with the players they have and leave the other kids to play at either the clubs or schools they originate from. It would certianly help to strengthen the competition evenly and if the players they import are good enough...

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

No 8, where/who did you play for? What is it exactly that you think has declined since you played? Not sure the size or skill levels have declined but in comparison to other states like NSW and QLD where unfortunately scholarships are common place these attributes have probably stood still...

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

Happycat, this is exactly what I am suggesting in my opening post. The competititon would commence with four teams contesting a Div 1 and the other schools playing in Div 2 and 3. In time if those schools developed a stronger rugby profile they may consider entry to the ASC Div 1. I dont know...

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

Not sure what has evoked such a strong response to this thread so late after it was initially raised but, I thank you anyway. I will respond to the three posts above together to save time. Spikey Beaver, I dont see why the schools should be made to feel any guilt about the welfare of the clubs...

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

Before people get excited, this list is winners of the ASC comp only not the ACTJRU. I realise that the winners of those two comps may differ in several years.

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

Tich, following your post and questions I have done some research for you. Below is a list of winners of the ASC as best as I can work out so far. The many blanks will need help filling from others who may be in the know. I have established that the ASC first commenced in 1959 with St Edmunds...

Does anybody know how long the Marist No8, Siuta Tai is out for with injury?

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2013

Can anybody provide results from todays matches? If that incident at the Norths v Darra game was ugly as it reads, then some action needs to be taken. It sounds disgusting and rediculous and whats more completely unwanted by true supporters of rugby. I hope the offenders are thrown out of the...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Pardon my ignorance, but who funds all of these scholarships? Are they full scholarships? and lastly how are the scholarships for these students categorized, e.g sporting, music?

Does anybody know the results of todays other matches?

    ACT - Stand alone ASC

Yes, it is unfortunate however, the deeds of the past are not easily forgotten and the appearance of very good players within the side in the final years of schooling only adds fuel to the fire and speculation begins again. I probably should have been clearer in my post and expressed that the...
