    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

The whole Eddies forfeit situation seems very bizarre, can anybody actually explain the reason? A quick scan of the St Edmunds rugby website tells me they have 19 teams across the school which is promoting it's 60th anniversary this year. Considering these numbers, it seems very odd that they...

Not too sure about that, not that I know of anyway. Its sad that a sol called rep game is being somewhat 'cheapened' by having players withdrawn by the schools for the schools sake. At it's strictest, you might go as far as to say that they should become ineligible for further selection to the...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

My two bobs worth; - 2 point penalties - 1 point FG - No kicking out on the full in own 22 - BRING BACK RUCKING! - Radically, but unrealistically, drop a man off the back row and play with 14. Allow the No8 and blindside to be interchangeable at each sides choice. Otherwise, I like the game...

Dara have managed to get two sides in each age group (13's - opens) this year. Im pretty sure they only managed one side in one or maybe even two age groups last year. This is a good sign.

Has James Shepherd played in the trial games for Marist? Does anyone know why their trial form has been so average?

Thanks Josh, where are the other two fellas from and what years are they all in? Positions?

Can anyone tell me exactly who the Marist 'recruits' are and where they come from? Are they really 'recruits' or merely boys enrolled by their parents? Judging by trial form Marist are either playing really good opposition or they are struggling, which is it? Two big losses in two weeks is less...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Sometimes its nice to just stroke the ego a little regardless of how it looks to others. There is no logical answer, it's purely ego. Some of these schools have never come to terms with the fact that a Catholic school in particular has dominated them for so long in the manliest of games and...

Despite the gallant 1st XV going down it seems that after a few years of famine, God willing, a feast beckons on the horizon with several Marist Div 1 teams winning premierships and some real talent emerging. Well done fellas, keep working hard. Servo Fidem.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Wow, if Joeys continue this fall from grace much longer and slide further down the ladder they may be the next school to exit the GPS 1st XV comp and join the very healthy 3rd XV comp. Imagine that.....

If true, quite incredible and unfortunate. I would have thought there would be some type of qualification rules to prevent this. No doubt Marist will turn the other cheek and be the bigger outfit despite the result.

Is this and your previous post meant to sound as arrogant and elitist as it comes across? I hope not, if so however I am disgusted.

All fair points by the sound of it. It seems incredible that 1st XV games are not officiated by referees and touch judges of a suitable standard or that parents from involved teams would fill the roles. There will be people who disagree though I'm sure.

Hey mate, student/player late 70's early 80',s, staff/coach late 80's and 90's, parent/coach/supporter 2000's. I remember all those names and events you mentioned, they were good days. The ASC was well and truly alive and kicking. Darra and St Pats had some great teams in the 70's and early...

The 90's (early 90's) in fact were good times indeed for Marist and it was a period where Marist really had the wood on eddies over a sustained period. Oh the glory days. My association with Marist for your information goes back much further than that though but I do have fond memories of the...

No one should have to play rugby at all. In fact, as you point out the school does enjoy success in many fields and all I am saying that if success does not take place on the rugby field kids may chose to look elsewhere for a winter sport. This would be a shame for rugby itself.
