    Where to for Super Rugby?

They also say they told the Kiwis not to bother sending the contract docs.

    Rebels 2020

Whilst I disagree that discussing it here is going to make anything mainstream, I think the more important aspect will be the Rebels relationship with private equity. With a comp that is seeking teams, and at minimum discussions underway with KKR, why couldn't we be one of the financially viable...

    Rebels 2020

I'm less confident. Holding a Super Rugby licence whether from SANZAAR or RA gives us a right to participate in Super Rugby. Damages maybe from RA for not proceeding with Super Rugby, but unlikely as I am sure some sort of force majeure clause would have been triggered by the pandemic.

    Rebels 2020

But what do we hold a licence for - I think it's a comp that doesn't exist.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

8 home games was the magic number that used to get quoted as being the minimum to turn a profit. The TT Cup tournament might need to be three groups of four to get another three home games each in a round robin, then top of each group, plus best of the rest, or top two plus two next best into...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It was Wayne Smith's article today (I assume). He said each of the NZ Super Rugby club CEOs called one of their Australian counterparts to invite them to a meeting of all of them together on Friday...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Could be but not how it was reported. I don't know how Force would reconcile bailing on GRR to join Super given the history of why GRR came to be. This year makes sense, maybe 2021 depending upon travel restrictions. They are an organisation who could do both if their backer chooses to though.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Sounds like the Force's lack of invitation was down to a thought around a sixth NZ franchise coming in, although that was mentioned as being unlikely (Wayne Smith, today's Australian). He couldn't resist ending his mainly positive story with a final Rebels Brumbies merge paragraph.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's literally the million dollar question. The RWC piece is interesting as it could bring a CVC type bid in to play. You can probably pick up the remnants of Super Rugby for nothing or close to it, but could you make it pay? With an RWC boost in interest maybe you could. An aligned world calendar...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fox has the advantage of combining it's marketing and advertising operations for all content. Craig Hutchinson (SEN owner) keeps stating he has never had more listeners, but can't monetise it due to the advertising market having collapsed. That is for AFL talk in Melbourne. I was just reading...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

People arent going to pay that amount in one hit. The model is pay by the month for other sports like NBL Orr pretty much any streaming. You can charge maybe $20/mth max (Kayo is $25), but probably really be about $15. Wallabies tests are on FTA so you lose a chunk of subscribers there. If you...

    Player eligibility

Currently they are more valuable in Europe if not playing test rugby. It means they are available all through their long season which test players aren't. Maybe it's not full England test money, bit it's probably better than mid ranking wallaby money.

    Player eligibility

I think it should look something like: 1. Heritage based (citizen, parent, grand parent); or 2. Five year residency. To switch you must not have represented another union for six years, and qualify as above. For a foreign national who comes over here as an 18 year old, by 23 you could be a...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

So about a 9% haircut. I wonder how much the contra component got boosted against the cash.

So what are the voting rights in the event of an EGM?

Do SANZAAR still split the tv deals between them? I am sure that was how it worked in the past.

I listen to the Sounding Board podcast which has Damian Barrett (ex-News, AFL journalist) and Craig Hutchison (radio owner/content provider, ex-News journalist). It is basically a journalism podcast, although given their backgrounds it has an AFL flavour to it. They are very open that editorial...
