    Rebels 2021

So apread the load now. The Australian is reporting we may have to go to Canberra next so we are allowed to travel to Perth, and i doubt there is smooke without fire on that. We already have to fly into QLD on game day. That is a month on the road. The Force could swap their home game with us...

    Rebels 2021

This is the stupidity of it. Apparently no team is to be held responsible for its state government policies, but then Melbourne has to fly in same day, shift matches etc because other states wont let us in. Why not just play our first four games at home. Reds will have no restrictions on them...

    Rebels 2021

Are we playing in Ballarat this year - if so we should wear this as it is very reminiscent of the Vic Country AFL jersey.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Probably yes under the foxtel model as those viewers seem more captive to it. No under the Stan model. The companies know which viewers they can sell the game to. Stan wouldn't see the non-attraction of a minority group of late-or-non-adapters as being too detrimental to their overall sales...

    Rebels 2021

We should probably move full time to Latrobe. From memory it is the new high performance centre for VRU and the soccer team left a while ago. How the Collingwood WAFL team gets first dibs on the gym is beyond me - we're we using whatever the old glasshouse is called these days?

State of the Union (origin) discussion

You're re-casting your words a bit and putting some in my mouth but I'll take it the spirit it was intended. Victorian rugby is small, dedicated and growing, but with a long and proud history. 2011 would have looked different for the Reds if there was no rugby down here.

State of the Union (origin) discussion

When I was a kid, and before I fell in love with rugby in high school I remember seeing state of the union or whatever it was called back then on tv. Early 90s, ABC from memory. I was just flat out confused. Looked like origin, but they were doing weird jumpy things when they needed to restart...

State of the Union (origin) discussion

As a minority sport in a town that has 9 AFL teams and limited support from the national body until recently we punch pretty high. Hospitals Cup is as far as I can tell the direct competitor to Queensland cup league, been competing against two major football franchises for the last 20 plus years...

Are you talking about the 1909 established Dewar Shield.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

RA have been negotiating with NZRU for months. NZRU dropped a comp format on RA via the papers and direct approaches to the Aus franchises. Front running in the media yes. Playing games no.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Like maybe the NZRU who he has been negotiating with. Maybe our chairman who probably has old Murdoch links there. Probably just made it up to shit stir the Kiwis.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I also wouldn't want to watch a NSW QLD match with saying Jordan Uelese running out for NSW. Makes nonsense and reminds the smaller states of what Rugby looked like for us 10-15 years ago. Our talent having to travel for opportunity due to no options at home.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 - Waratahs vs Reds @ SCG, Saturday 8 August 2020

Have the game on in the background whilst I'm cooking dinner. Every time I look up I see a try, think it's a replay and then see the scoreboard. This comp is starting to open up a bit in surprising ways.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

    Where to for Super Rugby?

On comp design, given the draw is likley not going to be a full home and away, it is fairly simple to schedule it in three phases where only one has TT crossover matches. If there is a problem you sub in another round of all local matches. If Aus and NZ are still allowing people from outside of...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

For clarity, my comments below assume that we get an equitable competition structure with NZ. The SANZAAR part is relatively irrelevant. It will exist in the future to run the RC, just like the six nations organisation does up north. I cant see how the Super Rugby agreement doesn't have some...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We'll be fine by February and should be covid-free by October. The R-Rate has been dropping since a week after lockdown (I've got bored and have been making spreadsheets, but that's a matter for another thread). I think a bubble for next season is achievable. I think there was talk of a...

    Rebels 2020

I like that thought. The goal should be to produce Victorian Wallabies. Ten years in we are seeing the pathways produce more and more talent and now we are retaining the talent here instead of them heading north for the last few years of their schooling and then ending up at another franchise...
