    Waratahs 2011

#1 Tah must have some very good inside info because the players don't know anything about this. Foley is still very much the scrum coach and is very highly regarded by all at the tahs. Can't imagine them shifting him. On the contrary, they think he gives them a competitive edge.

    Shute Shield 2011

Uni have announced their coaching staff for next year. Todd Louden and Daniel Manu in 1st grade with Mark Bell as scrum coach.

Can't find a spot for Al Campbell among the locks?

    Brumbies 2011

Palmer has played LHP when required and actually started there for the tahs against the Highlanders on that memorable shocker this year. He did OK against Newlands from memory but looked a whole lot more comfortable when he moved to THP when Tilse came on. I gather Sam Carter has been going...

Retired Players you miss the most

Was that the game where the ref pulled Waugh and Croft aside to try to stop them fighting? They both had bleeding head wounds and Waugh looked at the ref and said "Oh come on, we're just having a bit of fun"

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

    1. Boydy didn't pick Bill Young, he played 3s 2. He is a converted breakaway

Looks like Hux needs to give some of those guys a few style lessons. Starting with you, Laurie!

    Rugby Reg's a Dad Again

Yeah, nice work Reg. All the best to you and yours.

    Bye Bye Jerry Y

I am not sure this is a done deal. All the Fiji RU guy says is that he is "willing to play for Fiji". That hardly sounds signed sealed and delivered to me. I suspect the impact on his Brumbies deal will have something to do with the final outcome. Having said that, though, I would like to see...

    Shute Shield 2011

Greg Mumm is coaching Fiji for the RWC next year and is not available for Uni. I have heard whispers of Todd Louden taking over.

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

Not quite, that was his second year out of school, 2008, but your point is still valid.

    Pre-Season Training at the Tahs

I've heard from a couple of the tahs boys that he's the one to avoid in opposed contact work as well.

    Rank our props

Very similar players with similar strengths and weaknesses. Kepu has the distinct advantage of not having a broken ankle, though, so I think we'll keep him

    Rank our props

As pure scrummagers: THP I'd have Baxter at 1 and Weeks at 2 then Palmer, Fairbrother, BA, Slipper and Salesi for THPs Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Palmer and have been watching him since he was a runt of a 12 yo, but he hasn't had enough game time against top quality opposition yet...

    Kurtley Beale at school

Haven't heard that, Albert. I'll check with my sources. He's a good player and they could do a lot worse. Still has one of the best and longest passes going around.

    Kurtley Beale at school

I gather he was a pretty good league player out Mt Druitt way as a youngster. When he started at Joeys in year 7 he was in a team with Steve Williams' (ex Wallaby 2nd rower) kid, Tom. Horse saw him play under 12s and recognised he was special. I gather it was Horse Williams who put Glen Ella...

    Scrum - Wallabies Vs Wales

They had a thing going where a bunch of props (mostly the signed and academy guys but not regular Super Rugby starters) got together every Wednesday at Victoria Barracks for some scrum work with Pato. From what I heard it was OK, the biggest benefit being a bunch of good props having to pack...

    Scrum - Wallabies Vs Wales

1984 Grand Slam tour at Cardiff Arms park. Rodriguez, Lawton and McIntyre in the front row. Horse Williams and Cutler in the 2nd row. The thing I love about that try is that the Wallabies were going nuts and jumping up and down about scoring a pushover try at the Arms Park but Rodriguez...

    Kurtley Beale at school

While we are on the Kurtley love.... I was fortunate enough to have a son in the same year as him and they played in a lot of teams together. Kurtley was elevated to the 1st XV as a 15yo in year 10 in 2004 which is almost unheard of at Joeys. A lot of people were worried about how he would...
