    Shute Shield 2013

Those seasons where there were two separate first grade comps were a very strange idea. Although I do remember watching that Warringah v Uni game as a young bloke in 05 and being taken aback by the crowd and the pitch invasion at the end.

    2013 – ITM CUP - NZ's 3rd Tier Competition

Finally got around to watching the Shield game, gee I thought Otago should've gotten a penalty with about a minute to go for Ben Franks not rolling, about 20 out in front of the posts. Ref gave him the benefit of the doubt and called a scrum for unplayable but 9/10 times it would've been a...

    Shute Shield 2013

The only problem I had with what TC did was that he put his own agenda ahead of his teammates. Instead of going and congratulating Foley for kicking the droppy and the rest of the team on the win, he put himself first. Obviously after 82 minutes of footy and a last gasp win you're not thinking...

    Shute Shield 2013

Not to start another 3rd tier debate or anything, but I have to say it after that game yesterday. If Pulver still tries to bring in some naff comp like Super B, he's kidding himself. The 3rd tier was staring us all in the face yesterday. Massive crowd, top quality game of rugby - had to be the...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

Just imagine the selection dilemma when Messam's fit....and the there's the reports of Jerome Kaino coming back, embarrassment of riches.

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

Luatua has played two tests and has had two fantastic games, completely blown away my expectations from watching him play S15 and NPC.

Is there anyone not bleeding in this game? Deadset, so many little cuts around blokes' mouths and eyes and noses tonight.

Haha thanks mate, I'm not quitting my day job for a career in standup, don't worry.

Two weeks in a row now the outside backs have seemed to spark up when QC (Quade Cooper) has come on. Ben 'the ghost' Smith now with his jaw strapped, quite the fashion statement.

Which would make it far more intelligent than the ridiculous reaction to the QC (Quade Cooper) booing?

Oh no, I hear boos for Quade, better get ready for another week of people complaining about it.

I'm saying that all he's doing in this game as a commentator is bitching and moaning about refereeing, and he usually does whinge about refs when it's not going his teams way. So maybe he should try refereeing a junior game or two and he'd re-evaluate his constant criticism and attacks on...

Phil Kearns - 'the refereeing has been disgraceful' No, Phil, the disgrace is that you're allowed to commentate on test rugby. Would love to see him try and referee a game before making such claims about the refereeing.

    2013 – ITM CUP - NZ's 3rd Tier Competition

Otago beat Waikato 26-19 to win the shield for the first time since 1957. Incredibly tense last 15 minutes, complete with a pitch invasion from the travelling scarfies!

One-off. Taranaki have a similar one-off jumper that they're wearing in their first home game too.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Agreed 100%. With the previous scrums the referee would step back from the scrum and motion to the halfback once he was satisfied that it was stable, allowing the half to then let his hooker know the ball was coming/call for the feed, thus letting the feeding team dictate when the feed occurs...

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

To be fair, everyone I've talked to who was at the game last night said many Aussie fans were part of the booing of Cooper. It certainly sounded like it was more than just the NZ portion of the crowd. I guess people are just paying him back for him disrespecting the national jersey. Apparently...

The Harbour 12 looks like Radike Samo's younger brother, huge hair on him. Pity it's not helping them much against a pretty classy JAFFAs team. Aaaand as I type that they score off a rolling maul, forwards everywhere are beaming with pride.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Judging by last night, the crooked feed refereeing will take time. Genia got pinged early for one, then the ABs took a scrum where Smith's feed was at least twice as crooked but not called. Then there were a few more where Genia was clearly feeding to his teams side. I guess it will get better...
