3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

If Uni were to get in as a standalone, where are they going to play? Can't imagine the ARU wanting to promote their flash new comp at Uni No 1. I'm not much chop with Sydney geography but would Redfern Oval be a chance? This would probably only be an issue for the first season, with Uni No 2...

Would love to see NSO get some games too, but they'd have to be during the August/September part of the comp because from October the cricket has the rights to it. Split the Northern teams home games between Brookvale, a very good viewing ground and excellent for TV, and NSO, a classic rugby...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

I never thought I'd say this as a back who wouldn't dream of sticking his head in a maul unless it was going to be a try scoring one, but I think more reward needs to be given to teams who can form dominant mauls. Currently, if the defensive team can get enough blokes in to slow the maul down...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Would Sydney Uni possibly be up for putting their resources into a team that wasn't called Sydney Uni? For example a team called, say, Sydney City, and played at a ground other than Uni Oval, but could still be supported by Uni's facilities and players and potentially coaching staff.

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/1964775/nhru-keen-on-national-rugby-competition/?cs=306 Newcastle union says they're interested in having a team. As much as I'd like to see it happen, it won't.

    Shute Shield 2014

I noticed the 2014 Brisbane draw has the comp running from March to August rather than April to September in order to accommodate the NRC. Does anyone know if the Shute Shield will be scheduled earlier as well?

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Watching the SA 7's has given me a thought - would it be possible, and if so would it be successful, to add a 7's team to each NRC club? The 7's game could be a curtain raiser and be used to promote the growth of the sevens game, a way to develop players for the World Series, and it would add 15...

    Waratahs 2014

I actually meant that they stood for New South Wales and the Tahs therefore represented the whole state not just Sydney. The non-Sydney trial games have been few and far between in the last few years unless I'm forgetting something.

    Waratahs 2014

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/1932107/nsw-waratahs-heading-to-newcastle/?cs=306 Waratahs playing a trial against the Highlanders in Newcastle in February. Good to see them remembering what those NSW letters stand for and taking a game outside of Sydney. It'll be the first time they've...

England v All Blacks, Twickers, 17 November 2013

Ben Smith does all the little things that Conrad does, he's always there cleaning up and making the spot tackles when lesser players would still be 20m away. I think he's played pretty well there. Obviously not as well as when he was on the wing earlier this year and at 15 for the Highlanders...

England v All Blacks, Twickers, 17 November 2013

Carter is still incredibly influential IMO. Him going off was a massive turning point in the game last night. If his sabbatical does as much for him as McCaw's did, then he'll be right for the World Cup. By then Barrett may well have overtaken Cruden, which is astonishing to think.

Loss of Carter was massive, AB's have been on the back foot ever since. On another note, Stuart Barnes makes me long for Kearnsy to be commentating.

Foden's crowd try was magnificent. He was so happy, getting into a full on celebration before he realised it was a penalty 80m away.

    All Blacks vs France

Piutau. Wow. Brodie Retallick is scary good too. France continue to confuse, they played really well but they'll probably come out and play terribly their next game.

    All Blacks vs France

It's France though, they always seem like a rabble. Half the time they're the pits and half the time they come out and perform well. Tough to predict this one as a result but I'd say NZ by a couple of tries, say 12 points.

    Sydney Subbies 2014

Fairly sure I remember hearing somewhere that Balmain did a deal to use the main Leichardt Oval, anyone able to give more info on this and if I dreamt it?

Union or League? The pros and cons for school leavers

To be fair, league commentators did go gaga over the Roosters v Manly qualifying final this year that had a scoreline of 4-0. It seems they enjoy defensively-oriented games, unless it's a rugby game in which case it's boring, and they enjoy high scoring games unless it's rugby in which case...

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

The Wallabies kicking game was as bad as I've ever seen from an international team. Particularly Genia's box kicks which were awful (and how do you get one charged down? It's a box kick, the point is that you're protected behind the breakdown) but the kicking from the other backs was just...
