NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

Went and had a bit of a look at the 13s final seeing as it was nearby, Gordon were far too strong for Souths, winning 48-17. Gordon dominated the game and most impressively played a team game rather than relying on a couple of star players as often is the case in young age groups. As is...

    Rugby TV Shows

I'd also like to add to the praise for Georgina Robinson. She's worked her way into the role, seems like she's comfortable in the role now and she's doing a great job. The best thing is she keeps the rest of them honest and on topic, so if they rubbish on about something, she brings the...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Good to see it all officially coming together. Looking forward to seeing the teams logos and kits when they're released. Not sure how the Randwick/Easts/Country deal is going to go though.

    Sydney University Football Club

It's funny you should say that last sentence, because when I watched Carter play for the Tahs, especially in his last few years, I always got the impression that he was restricted to solely being a hit-up merchant. I don't think he was ever allowed to fully demonstrate his abilities in the NSW...

    NZ Match Reports

It was painfully obvious last night, he always looked like he wanted to pass then remembered he wasn't supposed to. His scrummaging and defence was solid but every time he got the ball the attack was stifled. Also how was the TJP flick pass for Barrett's try? Ridiculous.

http://www.nbnnews.com.au/index.php/2014/03/13/rugby-champs-to-come-to-newcastle/ Interesting stuff re: NSW Country. Lot of hoops to jump through to make it successful if it occurs.

It'd be nice if they looked around a bit more for player appearances, there are only so many times I can hear Israel Folau answer the same questions. Obviously geography limits their guests in-season but it'd be great to hear from some different players.

    Super Rugby Predictions 2014

Ah why not? If I'm close I'm a genius, if I'm not then someone hacked my account and posted this. 1. Chiefs 2. Sharks 3. Brumbies 4. Crusaders 5. Stormers 6. Waratahs 7. Cheetahs 8. Hurricanes 9. Reds 10. Blues 11. Bulls 12. Highlanders 13. Rebels 14. Lions 15. Force

Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

Potgieter looked like a liability IMO. Came in from the side a number of times, just being lazy. Luckily he was only penalised once iirc. He might be a bit short of a gallop but it wasn't his best game. The other thing is that the Waratahs backs must've dropped the ball 5 or 6 times doing set...

Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

Few thoughts from the stands on this one: - great to see a S15 game back in Newcastle, last time the Waratahs played a game here was either 2004 or 2005 iirc, against Fiji Warriors. Last other S15 team to come here was the Blues in 2003 I think. Crowd was about the same as the Knights trial...

    Shute Shield 2014

Just read that the SS finals series this year will be 6 teams, over 3 weeks. Does anyone know what the format of this will be? The only one I can think of is: Week 1: 3v6, 4v5, 1/2 have the week off Week 2: 1 v lowest winner, 2 v highest winner Week 3: winners of week 2 Has anyone got any...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

I think one of the big issues for him if he plays 12 is how he adapts to moving laterally in defence. In league, he defends in the middle of the field where players are very close together and it is mainly big forwards trucking it straight up. If he defends at 12 he'll have to learn to deal with...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Someone like Billy Twelvetrees would have to be filthy about this. The RFU has so little faith in blokes like he and Tomkins in the centres that they're bringing in a league prop to play there. Can't see this being a success and quite honestly I hope it fails miserably.

    Sonny Bill

SBW wouldn't have to play a full 14/20 minute game, so if fitness was an issue over a full game I'd doubt it would be over a shorter period with a stint on the bench. I don't think anyone can cast doubts on his fitness, currently he's right up there physically with anyone in the world, he'll...
