Quade telling it how it is

As far as I can tell, every generation thinks the one following it is appalling. Either humanity has been going to hell in a handbasket for the last few millenia or the older generations can't remember what they were like when they were young (and what adults said about them).

All Blacks - From Pillars to Stonewalls

I think that is a pretty good distinction. I take it as axiomatic that a player who is (a) on his feet and (b) comes from between "the gate" can protect the ball which necessarily involves "obstructing" an opposition player who wants to play it. The opposition player can drive into that player...

All Blacks - From Pillars to Stonewalls

I didn't read your post as a crack against the AB's as I think you may well be raising a legitimate offence and one of theoretical as well as practical interest. I have heard others raise this point and I want to get at precisely what the offence is before the conversation gets a bit...

All Blacks - From Pillars to Stonewalls

I must confess I don't really follow you too well. Perhaps if you could cite the law they are breaching and provide a clip or two, or at least some times during recent games where they have done this illegal tactic it might be a bit clearer.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 5 Game 2 Argentina vs New Zealand - 29 September

It's a bit like when someone says "that's a double movement" and some bright spark, thinking they are cleve,r will point out that the phrase "double movement" doesn't occur in the laws. That is true, but the phrase does describe the distinction between immediately reaching out and placing the...

2012 Rugby Championship R5G1 Springbokke vs Wallabies @ the Bull Ring

Surely Samo has played his last game in a gold jersey. His work rate around the field is appalling and when on the rare occasions he does hit breakdowns, he doesn't do it with any vigour. He's a one trick pony and he barely even does his one trick any more.

Nah, there was a new advantage given somewhere in the middle, not rolling away I think.

My reading of 3.12 is that it provides a exceptions to the rule that a subsituted player may not come back on. I don't think it provides an exception to the number of substitutions allowed as per law 3.4.

I guess they aren't really in competition with this site, so sure: http://www.rugbyrefs.com/forum.php The post in question hasn't really got going yet, perhaps a reflection of the fact that Rolland was correct.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 5 Game 2 Argentina vs New Zealand - 29 September

Wow. This is what I have been waiting for ever since the third test against Ireland. If the Pumas don't sort their defence out it could get very embarrassing for them.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 5 Game 2 Argentina vs New Zealand - 29 September

Peyper gave the secondary signal for player off feet playing the ball. I don't think he was implying that a ruck had been formed. When you look on the replay the Argie probably went down on one knee for a split second and then stood up again, without quite releasing. Whilst it seemed harsh...

Its a very interesting question. (I think you mean law 3 just quietly). I think the law in question is ambiguous and can be read to support Rolland's interpretation 3.4 PLAYERS NOMINATED AS SUBSTITUTES For international matches a Union may nominate up to seven replacements/substitutes. For...

2012 Rugby Championship R5G1 Springbokke vs Wallabies @ the Bull Ring

I hope you guys will be a bit restrained in your criticism of Deans and the rest of the team after this performance. The number of injuries that the Wallabies have faced is ridiculous. I thought they did pretty well all things considered. SA could have put 50 on. SA bonus point highlights...

Quade telling it how it is

To be fair, SBW had a very lucrative deal with Rebel Sport and he was blanketing the air waves for a while during the World Cup. I take your point though.

I am starting to feel sorry for the Wallabies here. Injuries galore and a yellow card. This will get very ugly.

Ever since I posted this they have stopped doing it. Perhaps Rolland had a quiet word. I think he's having a good game thus far.

^^^^ They've been BFF for a long time. Honestly I wouldn't pay much attention to speculation when it comes to anyone managed by Khoder. Its impossible to sort out what is legitimate info and what is fed by him for his nefarious purposes.

2012 Rugby Championship R5G1 Springbokke vs Wallabies @ the Bull Ring

One thing I have noticed is that at every Gold lineout, before the ball is thrown a gold player moves across into the Green line. It is done with a bit of subtlety because it looks like the player is just changing position, but I reckon it has a big impact on the ability of green to compete.
