I agree with that FP, and it is for this reason I think the forwards are largely settled. Changes I can see are Madness being picked up, Hooper to run on (Smith if available), Moore to run on, and form to decide Higgers vs Dennis. Backs much more difficult. You can't really say there are...

    Rebels 2013

It wasn't that long ago the Rebels were looking pretty damn good on the corporate front, a good profile, a steady ship, some good sponsors, some good management to deal with a bad news ex sponsor. Pretty sure the ceo didn't punch his captain. So from where I sit deflecting the conversation...

    Rebels 2013

My experience has been that plenty know there is two types, the majority just have no clue what the difference is. The rest are ex pat from nz sa qld or nsw. Still, there are a fair few (25%?) who actually know who the rebels are. Those ones are saying words 'you are a rebels fan? Brave to...

But BH81 you are saying precisely that, he has shown you he is the sort of guy that will rise to the occasion. (Which I happen to agree with). My issue is that he hasn't been playing 10, hopefully that is about to change, but if so I feel for To'omua.

oh and a further clarification that data was to rnd 6 so force game wasn't included, Timani made 12 tackles, but only 2 runs and 3 rucks mauls over 57 mins in tha game, if anything I'd say that was quiet for him. My point re Timani is a bit like my point for Foley, it is easy to underestimate...

Paradox www.rugbystats.com.au. And I agree turnovers seem light for Smith. (edit: But I think you will find thats turnovers conceded not won)

Continuing my trend of bucking the G&GR common view, I actually like Foley, a lot. Gets the job done no fuss with relatively few errors, surprisingly slippery, and easy to underestimate. Crazy playstyle for a first five I know.

He might be Qwerty, but personally I think Stirzaker is an improvement over Phipps ;)

Apologies for delay when thread has moved on but wanted to address this. 1. JOC (James O'Connor) was fine at ten in the EOYT 2011. To the point plenty here were waxing lyrical. At test level he won't try to compensate so hard. Having said that you weren't really addressing the spirit of the post. For the...

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

I think most of your points IS gear towards him not being reliable in a test match. Which I agree with. I can think of very few high pressure tests where he played well without costly errors. ABs suncorp 2011, in Sth Africa 2010 and 2011 maybe and even then I think there were some. A 41 test...

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

Sorry for the delayed response IS. I was disappointed, but no more so than for any other player who kicks fairly but gets it wrong - I didn't have an issue with the option. His hot potatoe game aggravated me more, but given his propensity for conceding turnovers this year his 'hospital' passes...

Just for arguments sake, If you had Genia at 9, JOC (James O'Connor) at 10, Ioane and Mitchell/Tomane at wing, Mogg/Beale at fullback, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at centre, and your question as selector was McCabe/Lilo/Taps vs a Lions team that rely on power and speed to penetrate through the 10/12 channel, who does Deans pick...

I think McCabe definitely has a claim based on experience, say what you like about him no one can dispute he steps up in the tough games, even when others are turning to cream puffs, like V Samoa. He has, what, 14 tests under his belt. So by no means a veteran, but utterly proven within the...

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

Reds best game in a long time from where I sat, maybe vs Crusaders in NZ last year, struggling to think of a good game since where the Reds style of 2011 was in play. Was disappointed to not see more from Morahan, a player that I have really liked the look of in the past but probably better at...

    Rebels 2013

My sense BR is that this is possibly the complete truth and was a spontaneous comment, i.e Beale hadn't set out to hit anyone, gets into the argument and early on says he just wants to be left alone or similar but that's not going to happen as the bus is about to arrive (and potential cameras) ...

TPN also had a few good runs in tight during the welsh tests iirc. But Palu stands alone really, his metreage is that good. The only player I can see rivalling his style of play is Aelua.

    Cheetahs vs Rebels RD 7

Hope they can play well but after last week 7.00 is just cheap, 15.00 and I'd consider it. Really would love to know Muggleton's honest assessment of last week, I mean beyond the obvious. Won't stop me cheering them on though, and holding a small flicker of hope, after all this is a team that...
