I agree with that, he has actually been playing 6 except for the joeys game when the regular 8 was out. Girdler has had a lot of time at 8 in his formative years, so if they want both then they can easily swap the 2 around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Back line sounds pretty good for me, although I think Simpson would have to be extremely close to GPS 1's at 7. He is big and powerful. Also the selectors would have to be keen on one or the other Riverview props, not overly big but they have dished up to both Newington and Joeys at scrum time...

    CAS Rugby 2015

I've only seen the 17 minutes of highlights of the game, but I can't see what all the fuss is about the 10. He seemed to distribute well, looked to defend. There were plenty of others out there that could be questioned as well. When looking for better perfomances from players in the 2's game it...

Never heard of a trophy of any sort for the 16's at inter-school level. Yes there is a GPS 16's team/s. They are called the Presidents XV, and there is an A and B side. They play CAS , ISA etc and that tournament is the key selection pathway for the NSW Schools team.

HTR, I think that the point of what school sport is all about is being missed. I'm finished as a schoolboy parent, but still love to watch and support schoolboy rugby, because it is the quickest, cleanest and purest form of the game IMHO. Having been through I can remember being pretty wound up...

I would be very surprised if Simpson from Joeys doesn't end up as the 7 for gps 1's or 2's. He was very strong for joeys last week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not sure about that one. Kennewell has been in great form, 2014 NSW II's. King is going very well also, but last year Dan England was GPS I's IC so he will be in the mix again, with some talk of Murray from Newington also. There's certainly some strong contenders for the 12 and 13.

I agree with GG. There's no question that Riverview need to improve their defense and some other bits of their game, but I was at the game and I'm sure that Joeys scored 2 length of the field intercept tries against the run of play. If either of those passes weren't intercepted by teh wingers...

After travelling over to support the Riverview boys I can report that Riverview led 12-7 when the 13 was yellow carded, with about 2 mins to go in the first half. Riverview conceded 28 pts while he was off. Up until then Riverview actually looked pretty dominant and converted pressure into pts...

According to the AAGPS site, the fixtures for Knox are as follows, and looks like same as last year with 4 teams form GPS GPS White XV v GPS Blue XV – Knox Grammar School – 2.30pm GPS 2nd XV v CAS 2nd XV - Knox Grammar School - 4pm GPS 1st XV v CAS 1st XV- Knox Grammar School - 5.30pm

They don't trial for GPS opens teams. The GPS teams are selected after the second round, that night in fact. There are GPS selectors doing the rounds looking at at least one trial and then 2 GPS games for all the teams.

It's only early days and what i think will be a very interesting season with each match up for grabs. Interestingly I believe that we may find out just how important Chrichton's physical dominance in the mid field was to the success of the Scots pattern. A lot was generated from there/ him. If...

The View v New trial really was a game of 2 halves. Riverview were ahead of Newington in most aspects of the game in the 1st half, where Newington were much better in the second half. Riverview had opportunity early in the second half but a lack of composure near the line saw Newington advance...

That's right LG. All players on the bench in that game got on the field at some stage in the game.

I have to agree with RM2. I doubr Riverview are making excuses but from what I heard they were very under strength, 5 backs and 2-3 fwds out.. For riverview it's a trial with an under strength side. The coaches get a look at who might press for s spot. On the other hand, I hear Stannies took a...

Recent GPS trial results are fairly meaningless due to athletes being unavailable. It would be the same for most of the schools but I have been told that Riverview were missing 7 or 8 today. I guess these trials probably give the respective coaches a chance to look at the depth and see what lies...
