The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

This is true. Brussouw's a good example of a player that seems to have died under the new breakdown interpretations. Pocock seems to still be very dominant

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Nor do I. I'm not suggesting he should be in the squad as a 9. I'm simply saying it's probably worth Cheika running him at 9 at a few training sessions during the RC to see how comfortable/effective he is there. As I mentioned earlier, I believe the 3rd halfback in the RWC squad is almost...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'd maybe like to see Cheika bring Giteau into the RC squad and see how useful he is at 9.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

The third half back is a difficult one. Whoever's the 3rd choice no.9 is going to play hardly any footy. They might get a start against one of the minnows but probably only for the sake of rotation. In my view its appropriate that the 2nd choice halfback starts against the minnows to give them...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think you'll need more than 4 props. In fact surely there must be a rule now that you have to have a minimum of 5 props in your squad. I say that because a test team these days requires a minimum of 4 pros I believe. If you have a rule which prevents injury trades within 48 hours of games...

just curious how we know it's 32? i couldn't find anything confirming that number. sounds right though

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'd probably play McCalman at 6 before I'd play Higgers at 6. McMahon I see as a similar player to Hooper. Provided Hooper is fit I see very little need for McMahon in the squad.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

If we had a strong front row, a Kieran Reid at 8, and a Whitelock/Retalick second row, I'd start Hooper and Pocock every day of the week. but we don't unfortunately our backrowers and locks aren't as well rounded as the all blacks'. Skelton is powerful but limited at the line-out, Simo is...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

The closer we get to the test season and the more i see Horwill in the squad. I've gone back and forward on Horwill this season. A few good games, but mostly shit-house. What Horwill really has going for him is his set-piece works. We must concentrate all efforts on being competitive in the...

man some controversial choices in this team. Is that you Dingo?

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Pocock has been jumping at the rear of the line-out for the brumbies.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Yep. And I'm not saying you'd want him at Centre, I'm simply saying that if you play a 6/2 bench and you're unlucky enough to get a bunch of injuries, you could play him at 12. It's been done before

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Obviously there will always be pros and cons of making bold selection choices (such as choosing two 10s), There is undoubtedly some downsides in playing 2 no.7s, mostly at line-out time. But IMO those issues are manageable, provided it doesn't effect our scrum.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I seem to go back and forth on the Pocock v Hooper debate from week to week. All I know at this time is that I'd have one starting, the other on the bench. At the moment I'd be leaning towards Pocock starting. Whilst I think Hooper's running game is important to our game, I think Pocock's work...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'd prefer to see Samu join the squad next year. Still a lot to learn before he's ready for test level. Yes he's brilliant on attack, but his defence was pretty poor at times last night. He had the unfortunate task of marking an all black 12 and wasn't able to contain him. He needs more time to...

Reds v Hurricanes Round 11 (ANZAC Round)

missed tackles killing the Reds. the no.6 for the Reds (don't know his name), has been woeful on defence. He's missed 4 tackles by my count.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

agree re PAE. I think people like the look of PAE because he's about 130kg and has the potential to be a very strong scrummaging TH. The truth is he looks to be still a bit rough around the edges. I cant remember him really dominating any LHs but conversely i cant remember him being dominated...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I could definitely see Higgers over Jones (given that he offers something different from our other backrowers). not sure I could see Genia left out though. I know a lot of people dont rate him atm. truth be told neither genia nor white are setting the world on fire, but if we have to rely on...
