Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'd say the squad will look something like this: Props: Sio, Slipper, Kepu, Holmes, Alexander Hookers: Moore, TPN, Fainga'a Locks: Simo, Skelton, Carter, (undecided - Horwill/Coleman/Arnold) Backrow: Hooper, Pocock, Fardy, Palu, McCalman, Jones Halfbacks: Phipps, Genia, White Flyhalf: Foley...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Do we know yet the exact number of players in the WC squad yet? i think it was 31 last time, but I'm expecting they'll extend that to 32 (likely) maybe 33.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

yep. obviously he's most dominant in defence, but he's starting to show that he's pretty useful on attack too

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Interesting to see the Pocock was being used as a line-out jumper too

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

ha. you're right. he shouldn't get any credit for his work in the line-out. I was hardly getting carried away with his tries. His stats show that he was just all round excellent. the best of field easily. the tries were just cherries on top.

Putting a guy through a gap with a well timed pass

Super Rugby 2015, the run home

I haven't done the calculations yet (i'm sure i'll get bored and do it at some point). At the start of the season I thought the the Chiefs and the Brumbies were the teams to beat. The Chiefs will be in the final 4 but the loss of Cruden is a pretty tough injury to overcome. It might hurt them...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

    Pocock v Highlanders tackle busts - 3 line breaks - 1 linebreak assists - 1 forced penalties - 1 runs - 12+ (i lost count) tackles - a shitload tries - 3 over to you Hooper.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I haven't seen any of Smith overseas, but i'd be really surprised if he's a better player than either. Hooper is in his own league in terms of what he brings to the game, but in terms of pocock v smith, I doubt Smith could shade Pocock. When Smith came out in 2013 people weren't expecting...

    Big change to eligibility rules

Well surely the resigning of Slipper until 2018 goes against those suggestions that the change will mean that there is no reason for test players over 60 tests to stick around.

    Aussie Player Exodus

How does it lower the value of the jersey? please explain

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

No way Cheika will select White ahead of Genia. Genia was his 2nd choice on the EOYT.

    Aussie Player Exodus

What you're essentially describing though goes to the heart of why the wallabies need this rule. Our test team should be the best of the best. The best way for us to improve as a test nation is to have strong competition for positions across the entire team. We're better off creating a situation...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

wow wow wow wow wow. big call. now that's a debate that deserves it's own thread.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Yeh Mitchell was awesome in his prime but from memory he'd already started to wane by the time he left Australia. We can debate the relevant strength of the NH comps, but I think its pretty much universally agreed that the quality of the outside backs in Super Rugby is much better. JOC (James O'Connor)...

    Big change to eligibility rules

Despite the introduction of the new rules, I'd prefer to see at least some restraint in choosing overseas players, so as not to discourage selection of locally based talent. For instance, I'd like to see a general rule of thumb that no overseas players are picked for the June tests. I see no...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Cant say the new eligibility rules have changed my preferred squad at all. If there's some injuries then perhaps. Some talk about Ma'afu returning to Australia (possibly to Toulon). If that's true he'd be worth considering for a TH spot but again I have no idea what his form has been like...

    Big change to eligibility rules

If you seriously think all four of those guys would still be contracted to Super teams in 2017 then you are blind to what is going on
