I 100% disagree. I think that concentrating the teams is the short-term answer. How does having 3 teams with only 3 players to choose from in each position differ to the development of having 5 Super Rugby teams made up of 3 Aussie players and 2 NZ players. You have the same number of players...

Not that it will help the wallabies stocks, but I’ve saying this for years, super rugby should allow NZ players to play for Aus and vice versa and still be allowed to play for there national team. The Rebs and Force will probably just be 6th and 7th NZ sides but who cares at this point. If the...

The Super Rugby AU final between the Brumbies and Reds was pretty epic. Having two Aussie teams in a final brought a lot of interest, even if it was in a dialed down comp. Sometimes poorer quality is actually better to watch. There's more running rugby and tries scored at club level then Test...

I feel as soon as Gregan-Larkham retired the rugby IQ from Australian players dropped significantly. We stopped being skillful smart rugby players and just started being athletes with no thinking abilities.

"concentrate our talent" why do you think this will help? They will still lose. Look at the Rebels when the Force got the flick and they basically had the pick of all the force players (and coaches). Well the Rebels were still shit. The reality is the Crusaders beat the current wallabies team...

    Wallabies 2023

At least the current crop of players would be developed better. Look at the Brumbies as an example. They seem to be getting the most out of there players who aren't exactly world-beaters in terms of natural skill or athleticism. If every Super Rugby team was better coached with better programs...

    Wallabies 2023

Maybe Rugby Australia need to spend big with top-up payments of 5 top quality super rugby coaches. Pay Gatland, Jake White, Joe Schmidt, Robbie Deans, McKenzie, Cheikia - any coach with proven success to bring some top quality coaches and programs to all super rugby teams.

I would argue with the talent he had at his disposal he has under-developed many players. Petaia was one of the best on field at the last RWC at 13, but he has been an inconsistent error prone player ever since. With his athleticism he could and should be world-class by now. It's been 4 YEARS...

Thorn proved at the Reds what a terrible head coach he is. Although I do think he would make a decent assistant coach - a solid forwards coach.

I wonder what Donaldson's high ball skills are like, I don't recall him being tested.

I 100% agree. Goal kicking is so important. I do wish Georgia tested Donaldson under the high ball. That part of his game is an unknown for me and I’m concerned about it.

I still think anyone in the front row could throw the line-out and it wouldn't interrupt the structure, or even a non-jumping backrower.

Yes the Donaldson selection is likely going to go down as a wtf moment in history. I’m all for dropping a form player for a goal kicker - I get that part of it. But given that goal kicker isn’t a very good one it just doesn’t make sense. He must be nailing them at training. All we can hope is...

I can’t remember if it was on the Roar, but there was a post or article about Samu, and his defensive efforts, or lack thereof were quite poor. Tackle numbers are significantly lower then alternatives. He is obviously great with ball in hand but at the core stuff: hitting rucks, making tackles...

I’m a brumbies fan and obviously find this offensive. But mostly because there is truth to it. Canberra is not a great base for sport despite the success of the Brumbies. (A new stadium would help tho). Deep down I think the Brumbies know this, which is probably a major factor in being opposed...

I agree. Look at the alternatives at fullback. Wright? No thanks. I’ll take Jorgensen over him, he was equally good at super rugby minus the brain farts. Hodge has utility value but I just don’t think brings enough.
