The Totality of Tony McGahan's contribution to Wallabies' rugby - a report on the first year

In my view, TOCC, it is very much a matter of judgement and purpose. When I use the term, "Casino John", I am writing sarcastically as it is my view that he has responsibility for much of what is wrong with Australian rugby. By contrast, when I write about Tony McGahan I try to make what I...

The Totality of Tony McGahan's contribution to Wallabies' rugby - a report on the first year

He was quoted in the Irish Times in March, IS, while he was still coaching Munster. He still had to finish the season. I think he was caught unawares in the interview, not realising that some mischievous people would see the alliterative potential in associating the words, "Totality" and "Tony"...

The Totality of Tony McGahan's contribution to Wallabies' rugby - a report on the first year

Slow down a bit, IS. Our man Totality only lobbed back in June, IIRC, so he can't really be held responsible for the S & C at the 'Tahs last season. In addition my mail is that the senior players there no longer have the option of saying they don't feel like doing hard graft in the off season. .

The Totality of Tony McGahan's contribution to Wallabies' rugby - a report on the first year

When, back in March this year, the Irish Times scored a world scoop with the news that Casino John O'Neill had managed to lure Tony McGahan back to our shores the excitement was palpable. Somewhat worryingly for a man of my years, I can recall being in a state of tumescence for quite a few days...

Wallabies vs Italy - 25th Nov

I'll second that. It's not blindingly obvious what they could have done about a loss of satellite signal, but whenever anyone wants to put the boot into Murdoch and Telstra I'm up for some tandem slipper work. .

How many times do we see this happen with Tatafu? It's just not good enough to allow this fine young bloke to take unacceptable risks with his long term health. His employers need to take a close look at the circumstances of these injuries. This should be relatively easy to do from detailed...

Have we been flogged another dud? We could become an international laughing stock, being outsmarted twice by Kiwis, who are renowned for not only being flightless but also the least cerebral among the avian species. .

A more appropriate time for that call would have been before the game, Charger. I thought it was a solid display by the Wallabies and a well contested game. I for one was surprised by how well our scrum went. Perhaps that was because England are deficient in that department, but I didn't read...

    Wallaby injuries: poor diet?

Back in Sir Nick's time, Iiwii, scrums packed much higher than they do now. This enabled second rowers to drop their binds and wreak havoc with the hidden closed fist mainly on the opposition hooker, but they would certainly have also targetted a 15-year-old schoolboy foolhardy enough to stick...

Hawko, your spirit of Christian charity does you enormous credit, in particular your willingness to rationalise the decisions of someone who, for whatever reason or more probably none at all, has visited much misery on us. I admire your futile search for something "that explains the...

    Wallaby injuries: poor diet?

Of course, Iiwii, and not just on the field. Very sharp leisure wear. I'm waiting for them to come back into fashion. The strange thing is that after people stopped wearing them I've never heard of anyone going off with a bruised hip bone. Not comic books. I wore the thickest shin pads I could...

    Wallaby injuries: poor diet?

Air conditioning in a grunt gym? Bloody student wusses. Australian rugby has been going backwards ever since they started providing hot water for the after game showers, although in my first years in Illawarra rugby none of the grounds had dressing sheds so we'd all go back to the pub in our...

It would appear that Digby Ioane and Tatafu Polota-Nau must have had a very nasty head clash at training this week. Neither should be allowed to take the field without undergoing the most thorough neurological examination. Digby's rantings: “They are pretty wingers, they are really good...

    Deans contract extension

As Jack Lang said, IS, "In the race of life, always back self interest - at least you know it's trying." My money's on him not giving up the rumoured million dollar package 'til the death which, given the ARU's form in extending his contract for no discernible reason, may turn out to be literally...

    Deans contract extension

Perhaps Robbie should take a lead from another code: To save time we could adapt their press release to our slightly different circumstances: Wallabies head coach Robbie Deans has resigned after seven excruciating years in charge. "I just felt that it's started to affect me and probably...
