3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Regardless of the EOI, I think the ARU/NRCC will be careful to brand the teams as separate to those who may run them, in order to bring new/unaligned people into the competition. With that in mind, I think you'll see a structure the likes of the ARC: Sydney Sydney (West) Sydney...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Good to see wise head shave prevailed, and that the ARC is coming back largely intact. I still maintain that there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the competition that could not be fixed with time and patience. Hopefully, the ARU gives this one more time to grow into a product of its own...

    Rebels 2013

It's basically this. Gav and a few have left the group and gone to the other end trying to drum up a soccer-style 'active end' - we tried this early in season 2 and found it wasn't well received, but Gav was determined so left the Army and went on his own way. The rest of us have stayed with...

    Rebels 2013

As someone who has had a close association with the Rebels from the start, I have to generally agree with this. The club has been to hell and back off-field. The first year was spending in the excess. The club was unsustainable and they expected Mitchell to pick up the tab. He wouldn't so they...

    Rebels 2014

I agree, I don't think it's cynicism at all. I think Rob Clarke's major contribution has been a feeling of self-worth at the club. He wants people to believe the the club will amount to something great, and for it to be respected accordingly. I don't think we've ever had that under previous...

    For Sale: One Test 10

I've spoken to enough of the playing group and support staff of the Rebels to determine that James is a bad influence on others and on team culture. In short, many of the 'incidents' surrounding the Rebels this year can be traced back to him and his influence in some way.

Australian Sport TV Ratings.. Rugby Falling

JON overpricing the game is part of the reason we're in this situation. Rugby needs to be a value proposition for networks until it builds a consistent national audience. The A-League went from a rights deal of $700,000 in its first season to $40 million next season by proving its product...

Australian Sport TV Ratings.. Rugby Falling

Remember that the networks, especially Ten, will look at sports like rugby as a simple profit/loss exercise, unlike the AFL or NRL, which are loss leaders. This could actually work in rugby's advantage. Ten acquired the B&IL rights for $2.5m, and before the third Test, were reported to have...

    For Sale: One Test 10

From what I've heard out of the Rebels - yeah, he did.

    Rebels 2014

I'm willing to bet James O'Connor won't be resigned by the Rebels. Everything I've heard out of the club is pointing at very cold feet.

    Thoughts on Folau to rugby

I assume Israel reads Green and Gold Rugby. If you are not Israel Folau, please disregard this message. Dear Israel, I am so sorry to have ever doubted you. The AFL and NRL can get stuffed. Welcome home. Sincerely, Stu.

Brumbies v British & Irish Lions Tuesday 18 June 2013

One of the best team performances I have had the pleasure to witness live. Was fun to relive the Brumbies glory days for a night. Enjoy the next twelve years, Canberra.

    Brumbies v Rebels RD17

Well done Brumbies - best in the country, simple as that. A joy to watch. Rebels lost their spark in the forwards. Defence seemed harried, like they had lost the patience and belief they built over the past few weeks. Higginbotham and Pyle are the two generals in the forwards. We are in...

Rebels v Lions - Tuesday 25 June, AAMI Park

The Rebels are probably the best chance of grabbing a win against the Lions, all things considered. A team relatively unaffected by the Wallabies up against the visitors readying for the final Tests.

Force vs B&I Lions - Wed. 5 Jun

16 of the 23 have played 15 Super caps or less. That's not a team worthy of this event. Though, I suppose the WA amateur team was good enough for the Lions to face last time...

Force vs B&I Lions - Wed. 5 Jun

They're pretty much not. There'll be a Western Force team, but they won't be the Western Force. I think my reaction is entirely justified for a guy travelling the length of the country to see this game. A belting is only fun for a while. I maintain that the Force would have gotten a lot more...

Force vs B&I Lions - Wed. 5 Jun

So a chance to come fourth in the Aussie conference instead of fifth outweighs an opportunity afforded once every twelve years to play in front of a sold-out arena full of people just waiting to take up the game. Yes, the scheduling sucks, but a performance against the Lions would do the...
