    Waratah Fan Forum

Both this thread and the fans' forum have the potential for fireworks. One thing that has always given me the shits is seeing the SFS at less than maximum capacity - even giving away tickets would be better than all those empty seats. The Waratahs have already paid for the stadium so they may...

    Input needed: Rugby Caricatures

Maybe try to incorporate aspects of their nicknames into the caricatures eg Sookface, White Orc, The Fuse, Bam Bam, Gilbert, Fat Cat etc

    Waratahs vs Force - 2011R12

Plenty of people tipped the Force for this one, but even when they were in front the never seemed likely to win it. The Tahs showed the same strengths and failings as in previous weeks. Burgess' passing was mostly fine in terms of accuracy, but was too often SLOW, and he still thinks he can...

    Fainga'a's are flankers

Moses - absolutely spot on. Although they have their good points (not least their dedication to their team), A is somewhat limited in skill and pace for the centres, and S is too small for the front row. Not huge issues at Super level but a problem at jnternational level.

    USA Rugby CEO Nigel Melville

What is their general plan for expanding (especially into professionalism) the game in the US? Do they have a strategy for recruiting some of those college linebackers who don't make the NFL?

Canes v Reds at the Cake Tin - 2011R11

They'll let anyone ref these days!

    Reds v Canes MOM

    3. Cooper (his attack was that good) 2. Robinson 1. Harris

Canes v Reds at the Cake Tin - 2011R11

That was a very exciting game. I was expecting big things from the Canes as they were at last without Ma Nonu - he has been utter shit all season - and Ngatai didn't disappoint (until his unfortunate injury, occassioned by yet another unpunished high tackle). Cooper was electric in attack...

    Tahs v Rebels MOM

Tahs 3. Dennis 2. TPN (even though he ended up belting himself at about 50min) 1. Turner - 4. Burgess - would have had 3 points but I had to deduct points for shit kicks (ie all of them, especially the box kicks) Rebels 3. Huxley 2. Pyle 1. Gerrard

    Tahs V Rebels, SFS, April 30 - 2011R11

It is a shame they didn't get the fourth try, but I'll take the win thanks. The frustrating thing is that it is clear the ingredients are there for the Waratahs to do so much better. The defence was strong throughout, and pretty much every player made some good contributions. The main things...

    Tahs V Rebels, SFS, April 30 - 2011R11

Please Waratahs, use your strong scrum and rolling maul wisely - it is not essential to score a push over try, there are other options available when you have a dominant scrum.

    Refs Appointment Board

You must have missed Gagger's blog post on Kaplan and the Waratahs - he is way outside the range of normal in terms of results. I dont think he is deliberately biased, it is just that deep down (like so many others) he hates the Waratahs.

Media alert: Australian rugby union to announce major decision on the future of rugby

Um, you do realise this thread is about an ARU announcement of "a major decision relating to the future of rugby"? 'Wallabies' is not the same as 'rugby in Australia', it is only a part of it (albeit an important one). Are you trying to say that the Wallabies are second therefore job done...

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

Ok, a bit of further thought on the topic (or at least one aspect of it). NSW has the biggest player base and produces the most professional players in Australia. This should mean the Waratahs are the most successful Australian team, but in terms of Super titles they are not. Maybe talent...

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

I've been thinking about the playing issues mentioned, and my conclusion was (and Newter mentions it above) that there is always another team involved who are trying to undermine the performance of the Waratahs. That is the nature of competitive sport - the 'other guy' is the random element...

    Depth, or lack thereof

In the case of the Waratahs it is goes back a couple of seasons - Hickey has been reluctant to blood players for some time now, preferring to make forced changes once players are broken. Recruitment has been pretty average too. On the other hand, there have been a few injuries...but then on the...
