If anyone here has ventured on The Roar today you would have noticed I have contributed another USA centric Rugby article. Furthermore, you may have recognised a name of a certain former Wasps official come CEO of USA Rugby pops up. I can assure you that it is in fact Nigel Melville.

I have asked information regarding the USAR's presentation to SANZAR for a place in Super Rugby prior to Melbourne's admission. I have also asked if I could put to him a list of questions regarding the game in the US.

If he agree's, I could go about it in two different ways. I could put my own questions to him or canvas other's for questions from different perspectives. At least intially I have decided to go the lazy man's path and ask G&GR for contributions. Any questions?

What is their general plan for expanding (especially into professionalism) the game in the US?

Do they have a strategy for recruiting some of those college linebackers who don't make the NFL?

He actually brought that up yesterday. Evidently they are currently in discussions with interested parties to investigate the viablity of establishing a pro league structure. It would start relatively small, probably along the lines of Major League Lacrosse with 6 teams and hopefully build from there.
