    Dictatorial vs Inclusive coaching

I'd be interested in any thoughts on coaching styles that have got results outside of rugby. The NRL have got some big names with Des Hasler, Craig Bellamy, Mal Meninga, and Wayne Bennett all enjoying successes over the years. Brian Smith on the other hand seems to be a fix it man but unable to...

Hux sees it too - where have our smarts gone?

In Lee Grant's writeup on the Aus schools win over the NZ schools team he described the winning try scored by the Aus schools team. The ball movement and interplay described was mouth watering. It was a reminder of what I used to love about watching the wallabies. I agree with Hux's article...

2012 Rugby Championship Round 4 Game 2 Australia vs Argentina - 15 Sep

The front row has surprised me this year. Robinson substitution seems to be working. Alexander hasn't been pinged off the park. TPN lineout throwing really isn't up to test standard, he seriously devalues the lineout as an attacking option. Puma's were a good team to play at this point in the...

2012 Rugby Championship Round 4 Game 2 Australia vs Argentina - 15 Sep

I thought the outside backs were quite lateral. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) needed to do more to counter the drift defense. Their defensive style was known before this game and should have been unlocked to a greater extent than it was. I liked what I saw for McCabe's try; Digby and Higgers were both charging at the...

2012 Rugby Championship Round 3 Game 1 Australia vs South Africa - 8 Sep

Quick question Lee. Whats your opinion of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in #13. As someone who has been a close follower of Rob Horne, your opinion on this topic is meaningful.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 4 Game 2 Australia vs Argentina - 15 Sep

How do posters see this game playing out ? I haven't watched the pumas in the RC so I am unsure of their style. From what I have read, they have a spoiling type of gameplan. They play for territory with plenty of kicking. I think I'm right in saying that they have a good set piece. Do they...

    Wallabies Fightback - Part 4

This is probably why Harris has been put on the bench. If Barnes' general kicking is as brainless as his previous two outings then simply sub him for Harris. We might lose some ball playing skills, but, if he needs substitution for poor kicking then it would be because he has not been using his...

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

Agree with most posters that the problem started in the forwards with their lack of mongrel. What happened to the AB prop that got the rib injury? If it was due to Ben Robinson's work in the scrum then that is a huge scalp for a front rower. I thought our set play was good, the referee took the...

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

The last game v's the kiwi's was lost through simple mistakes. QC (Quade Cooper) kicked off - out on the full. Nonu scores try 4-5 phases later. I prefer Moore as he makes fewer lineout mistakes and we lose very little elsewhere.

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

Interesting article from Paul Cully on SMH. Highlights a tactic of trying to isolate Nonu in defense. See if he is making the right decisions.

I agree with Scotty. I'd start with Moore.

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

Discussing selections doesn't really reveal much after the first few arguments for and against a player are made. Are we able to move forward and discuss tactics? Do posters here think that the tactics will be much different to last years World Cup Semi v's the AB's? What has changed in the...

So, who here thinks Deans is the coach we need?

JON is very focussed on the bottom line. As there is no silverware in the cupboard, his legacy will be to leave the ARU with a positive balance sheet. Based on this premise, it would be interesting to know the payout figure to sack Deans. I'm tipping that JON will either go before Deans in the...

So, who here thinks Deans is the coach we need?

I wouldn't have a problem with Deans if we were reaching our potential. The losses to Samoa and Scotland are particularly galling because we played so poorly. Scott Allens video analysis highlights basic flaws in the Wallabies. I'd prefer McKenzie as the coach

    Interchange for the front row?

In terms of scrum capacity the wallabies currently only have Robinson (loose head ) Palmer (tight head ) and Kepu (tight head ) at a standard where they can consistently compete against the best. Running subs on for them willy nilly weakens our chance of having a dominant scrum. It seems to be...

    Plan B

I have played in a situation where our 5/8 had good awareness of what was required and this was not in any representative teams. Opposition scored a try to take the lead in the 75th minute. Under the goalposts our 5/8 said deep kickoff to cornerflag. The intention was to get a lineout in their...
