Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

The changes I think will happen; Front Row: Sio to LH, Slipper to TH, Alexander out, Robinson to Bench. 2nd Row: Unchanged Back Row; Unchanged Halves: Genia, Cooper (Suncorp factor plus Taylor made Tomua look good) Centres; Unchanged Back 3: Unchanged. EM has a history of backing his...

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

Maybe they don't have to pay him if he doesn't play in the dead rubber.

Australia v British & Irish Lions, 3rd Test (Sydney)

Horwill should have some votes as well. He has been very busy and effective in both games.

Waratahs vs Brumbies RD 14 Saturday 18th May

I've tipped the tahs but I don't feel very confident. The bye V's a good tight win against the stormers. Sydney home game. This game will sort out some selection issues for Deans. I can just imagine Bernie Larkham conjuring some smooth moves during the bye week, and him having the backs on song...

ABC Offsiders - especially rugby coverage

I wonder if the highlights given to other channels from FOX are purposely designed to be frustrating. The highlights of a match seem to show the final act of placing the ball for a try and then the conversion attempt or a penalty kick. The highlights are massively cropped.

Playing two 15s in the starting XV

Good thread gnostic. My back three would have more kicking ability than yours. I think I would include JOC (James O'Connor) at the expense of Digby. Folau and Digby are similar for kicking (weak) and line bending (good). Digby has more speed and is reliable in defense. Folau can catch the cross field bombs...

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

My guess is not enough speed / was outflanked.

Stormers vs Brumbies r6 @ Newlands

Tough one to call. Is Burger playing? Mowen v's Burger should be exciting. Plus the Stormers locks of 2012 performed like the 2013 Brumbies locks (so far).

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

I have only seen the highlights of the game so I could be barking up the wrong tree. The cheetahs scored 2 tries off chip kicks. I would have thought that these holes should have been plugged by sweepers or by the back three. Can these lapses be attributed to Falaou at 15 ? Given that they got...

    Reds v Waratahs, rd2 SR2013

Can Kingston play fullback? I think Falou may be better suited to play on the wing. Also, the Tahs suffered from the bye last week. Good overall with plenty to work on and plenty that looks good.

    Retiring from Rugby

I now play Oztag even though it has its limitations. A broken arm and then 3 years of backpacking basically finished off my competitive football. I had a career change in my early 30's and decided to join the local rugby club as a way of meeting new people in a new town. The plan was good and...

    Super Rugby Apps

Mystery.... We had a tap penalty move called "Green Mystery" back in the day. T'was named in honour of the after effects of drinking too many grasshoppers at a University cocktail party.

    Barnes off to Japan

Did anyone notice that the kick by Lynagh in the lead up to Horans try in the '91 RWC match V's the AB's was very similar to the types of kicks Barnes has been trying to use for the Wallabies recently. Seems like tactics from 1991 are not as successful as in 2012. Care to comment Bob ?

    Australia v England @ Twickers 17 Nov 2012

Ben Robinson created the first try through being in the English defensive line. Phipps went through the hole that Robbo created ( he kept their #5 from going sideways in defense ). It reminded me of McCaw when he opened up a hole for Dagg in one of the bledisloe games this year. Very subtle...

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

The AB defense is the thing that has won them the majority of games this year K Reid is the master at taking space by rushing out of the defensive line. I agree with Chargers comments above. The defending team has gained the ascendancy again. The rules need to be looked at to re-establish the...
