    Waratahs 2020

If the Rebels couldn't win last year with the team they fielded, it's hard to see them topping the table this year. It's really even this year and a lot of it may come down to coaching, injuries and the emergence of young talent. If a few close games go our way early in the season it may spur...

Ah shit that's right, what a blunder! So I'm left with a Tahs version of a Sophie's choice....... Kurtley Beale or Tom Carter at 12.

    Waratahs 2020

On insta the Rugby.com guys have been doing a 'team of the decade' for each Aussie franchise. Here is my crack at a Tahs team: 1. Benn Robbo 2. TPN 3. Sekope Kepu 4. Kane Douglas 5. Dean Mumm 6. Dave Dennis 7. Michael Hooper 8. Wycliff Palu 9. Nick Phipps 10. Bernard Foley 11. Drew...

I also wonder if young 10s achieve better results if they are allowed to find their feet at 15 before being thrust into 10. They can get a feel for the pace of the professional game, get a bit of confidence with more space and time to work with. Bernard Foley started there, and the obvious...

That's a great get. Very highly regarded.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I find it very odd indeed that somehow Foxtel seem to have the higher ground here. Unless I've missed something, they are in a very similar position to RA - struggling for viability with a product that peaked in the late 90s. .

It's a tough one, and I see the arguments on both sides. RA is looking for long-term stability in the Pro ranks, which extends to players as well as coaches. A lot of four year deals kicking around, even for relatively untried players like Daugunu. A four year deal gives Rennie the runway he...

So, to change the subject. The Australian has claimed that John O'Neill has been tapped by a few board members to return as Chair, but he wants to pick his CEO and his board. If the incompetence of our board has not been established to this point, that would certainly confirm it. What have...

But they had nothing to gain. They were still going to incur costs, with the legal fees stretching to millions if the case dragged out, not to mention the publicity overshadowing the game itself. On the other hand, IF and his team really had everything to gain. A settlement in this case...

Well they want that, but they also REALLY wanted this case to go all the way to the High Court, and for Folau to win. Legal precedent is established, RA is suitable embarrassed and Israel is the champion of a new era in religious freedom. .

I thought the difference here was it was about so much more than money. For once this was a dispute about principle, about religious freedom, about virtue-signalling corporate behemoths. It was the showdown of 2019, with the future of religious freedom at stake. But now was about money all...

Man I can't keep up with the shifting goalposts here. Now apparently all he wanted all along was an apology. The court case and the $14m was just window dressing then it seems. OK.

So why didn't he go to court then? If it was about the principle, then why pull out of the fight when a cash offer was put on the table? It just seems like a bit of a cop out. It's like the Wallabies losing the Bledisloe, being beaten by South Africa but claiming the Puma trophy in the last...

I have to disagree with you on that. He's lost his career in Australian rugby, there is no two ways about it. I'd argue vindication would mean a return to the field in some form. At present he may have achieved an apology, but he's far worse off than where he was at the start of 2019.

What battle have they won, though? Nothing that happened here will prevent a similar scenario from happening in the future. It may, MAY, help top-end sportspeople in future situations, but it means bugger all for everyone else. .

He apologised to RA, who apologised to him. And he was likely paid the money owed to him by the contract he signed earlier this year. I really don't see how that's a victory considering he has now lost his career in Australian rugby, his place in Wallaby history, and faces a far more difficult...

I'm curious on this. Why do you think Folau won here?
