    QLD Colts 2015

As a Brothers supporter it might be worth checking the comp rules for 2015. I haven't yet and was surprised to learn last year that they superseded the ARU/IRB edict.

    QLD Colts 2015

The ARU implemented that in 2014 - http://www.rugby.com.au/Portals/22/2014 Laws/U19 Law Variations ARU 2014.pdf - and those variations applied to all U19 games played in Australia. It was in place for the entire season, and certainly at the time of the GF. The variations should've applied to...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

The contribution from the Foundation (varies each year) and bucketloads of fundraising events go a long way to covering the operational costs of the club so that more $$ can be put towards making rugby affordable for students to play. Without the Foundation (the club will forever owe Bruce...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

Here's what I would do in the Reds' shoes: publicly support the coach and say all sorts of stuff about injuries and all that be madly searching for options behind closed doors - I've probably been doing that since the Brumbies in round 1 - knowing I have a press release about Nick Stiles being...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

I don't disagree with you, but I also don't think there is a choice. Right now I'm of the mind that an external coach who is known as hard but fair and consistent (Manenti from Eastwood, for example) is worth signing even if they might not be the BEST for 2016 - I'm happy with better than we...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

Maybe not. Is the coach you can get better than the one you have now? Yes.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Yeah, TGB, I'll correct myself - Colts 1 probably isn't a QPR requirement, but Bond likely have the Colts 1 side so that they can have further depth and recruiting power for school leavers etc. No doubt trying to recruit only one team each year would be a problem.

My understanding is that QPR is a separate comp to Brisbane Club footy - leaving Uni, for example, with 1st grade being actually the third team at the club (behind Premier and Premier Reserve grade). They're the highest team we have in the Brisbane Club comp. So a QPR club needs to be able to...

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

If he pleads guilty, ASADA will ban - supply is a 2 year automatic ban, and a guilty plea (even of a low grade charge) is an ironclad admission that he did it. Regardless, there's a whole thread devote to Karmichael Hunt and it probably doesn't need to overrun a thread for a comp he's never...

I'm disappointed in the Queensland Government for not gazetting a separate Anzac Day public holiday. It's an unusual one though, because the Saturday 25 April is a gazetted public holiday so the QRU is playing a round on a public holiday - can't recall the last time off the top of my head. I...

    HEY! I haven't unleashed for MONTHS! ;)

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Colts was U20 across the board in 1999, then went to Under 19. I can't recall if there was an U21 grade, but I don't think so. It went to U19 because the (then) IRB decided to have an U19 world championship and then an U21 world championship. When they reverted to the single Junior World Cup...

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

Agreed - it has performance enhancing qualities, but an overall detrimental effect on performance. My point was that it's not a purely recreational drug.

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

Rugby players have 4 weeks annual leave a year, where they are still expected to do some semblance of fitness training. So it may be 4 months from a competition but at the most it's only 4 weeks to the next hard training session. Surely being more alert and resistant to pain would allow you...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

TT I must admit I haven't asked, I've only assumed based on what I know of the time & rostering demands placed on junior docs. It seems like a bloody big commitment that would need to take precedence over a game.

I couldn't agree more, ILTW, but I was responding to Rathbone's contention that the illicit drug policy is 'draconian' and masquerading as player welfare.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

I think Randell is more focused on his career in medicine than his rugby these days. There are a few quality players at the club whose real careers are getting in the way of their amateur rugby (Thompson, Tuffley, Porter), so they'll often come off the bench instead of starting, or play reggies...

Cocaine as a stimulant is a performance enhancing drug, Charger. It makes people more alert and less responsive to pain.

Tigers Tale I'm with you on Stiles. As a player I must admit I thought he was a bit of a dick - came across as a quite arrogant. He was known as The General because he stood back, watched and pointed a lot. Then he came back as a coach a couple of years later and I completely revised my...

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

Yep I usually like Rathbone's articles, but he's missed the mark on a couple (his very first one where he took aim at sponsors when for the Brumbies the gate receipts aren't enough to pay players, let alone keep the club afloat was particularly nauseating and self-righteous) and this one is...
