    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Souths deserved the win in a scrappy encounter filled with dropped ball and frustration from both sides. They would've won by a lot more if their kicker had found his range because a lot of points were left out on the field. It caused some nervous minutes at the end of the game for Souths after...

I'd have Connor Mitchell ahead of de Guingand for Uni, RH. He might play his 50th Premier Grade game for the club this weekend and I'm not sure if he's even turned 21 yet. Hard to argue with Pincus, but I'd also put Parker ahead of Wakely.

McMeniman played Colts at Uni. He & Richard Brown left for Wests to play grades.

Watching rugby (for free) on field 2 and needing to use the ladies room means paying an entry fee. Awesome :(

As I said TT, I haven't noticed any real changes to how Uni are being refereed - they still get carded as frequently as they always have. Welcome (?) to 14-man rugby. ;)

In 2010 YCs were re-set at the beginning of the finals series, but somewhere between then and 2012 it changed and they no longer re-set at Week 1 of finals. So yes, if someone sitting on 2 YCs gets another in a semi then they can miss the GF. I don't think referees are trying to assert their...

Uni cops a lot of yellow cards - IIRC they topped the count last year by a fair way?. The game v Norths this year was unusual because Uni had 15 players for the whole game. Most of the cards are for repeat infringements, and probably a consequence of the style Heenan-coached teams play...

    Wel played, Sir. Well played.

Does anyone else remember the awful purple and yellow Norths jersey? And am I crazy, or during that time were they called the Barbarians?

Uni v Easts had Matt O'Brien. The thing I noticed from the game is that he listened to his assistant refs MUCH more than I've ever seen him listen in the past. I think players still get frustrated with his communication style, but shit happens.

Normally I'm not a pedantic arsehole on the forums but from your last sentence you seem like someone who appreciates the value of a good education and I didn't want to let you down. It's a ballsy move in your first post to call fellow posters peanuts and anticipate uneducated responses...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

When I first started in rugby I asked one of the colts 3 coaches "what makes that a penalty when 2 min ago it wasn't?" The simple response I got has stuck with me since "because the referee called it a penalty". The same goes for tries and going into touch. You can disagree with the decision...

Homophobic remark in Tahs Brumbies game

Funny enough that some are also complaining that they 'probably can't even say (man up/you blouse/another insult based on the presumption that femininity equals weakness and inferiority). I'd be totally ok with people not using my gender to insult another person, especially when I'm standing...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

It's incredibly valuable information that they're gathering, no doubt. But as a word of caution, they're collecting baseline data. The information collected in the Randwick study will have no impact on the incidence of concussion and head injury and, from the perspective of scientific...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

My coaching philosophy is one of Grahamism. Grahamism is not an ancient coaching philosophy. While some have placed its origins in Bath in 2002, historical analysis shows it had a limited influence on team behaviour and outcomes until it hit Perth in 2010. Grahamism is the practical...

Look, we seem to be going around in circles. I can see only one solution. I'll give it a bash.

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

I'm surprised you missed the cynical tone to my post - it's a terrible idea, but it's what we'll end up with anyway. I predict an awful lot of a lot of work will be needed to restore public faith and player confidence once this is all over.

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

I'm now expecting him to serve out his contract (they'll have to pay him anyway, and it's only a few more months) but bring in another coach as part of a 'succession plan' or some crap. Whatever it's called, you can be sure the press release will contain so many convoluted weasel words it'll...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Interesting that the Reds intend players to play during the bye week but have so far held back virtually all their extended squad and 20s players from playing for their clubs. I'm glad it got Gill a reduced sentence, but I highly doubt that with the current oft-cited injury toll (you know, the...
