    NZ Domestic comps

Suggests going down the academy system would be the better option with the provincial Unions focusing more on participation and development. But if you were to go with a domestic structure. Yeah 14 wouldn't work but 8 may. Focus on the largest Unions and start from there.

I'd imagine if any of the clubs or group of clubs in say the North of Sydney successfully bid they'd look to play out of say Brookvale. Or a Western Sydney team could rotate between CommBank, Penrith and Campbelltown. Or perhaps bids come out of nowhere for the likes of Newcastle, Wollongong or...

    Shute Shield 2023

Yep. Many years ago (21 to be exact) now when I entered Colts they were doing it. In this case it was Randwick but it was well known that most every club organised accommodation/jobs for players.

None of the current club grounds would be used outside of being primarily training bases. So that would remove the need to redevelop/upgrade grounds.

    Aus A v Portugal 26/08

Despite the performance I'm just happy this game happened and it should become far more common in our fixtures list. Particularly if WR (World Rugby) ratifies the 6N/SANZAAR driven World League concept. But of the condition of that should be each respective nation enters a team in the apparent 2nd Division WR (World Rugby)...

I do agree with you on the current franchises are likely not going anywhere but that doesn't negate the potential for a proper national competition involving at least some of the existing clubs as well. Use them as a base to build off. Issue criteria for the clubs to qualify around financing and...

No there's been more. But how many current Super Rugby players are from the Canberra club scene?

There's more Victorian and probably West Australian developed players playing in Super Rugby than there are those from Canberra.

Apparently has re-signed with the Broncos for $3.6m. Which makes sense seeing as you know. His family.

    Where have you seen this?

I actually remember them marveling at his clearly improved passing game. All the while doing their best to not acknowledge where he'd developed that new skillset.

Australia A - Back on the Cards

Yes. I posted the notification on the T2 forum a couple of weeks back (the site seems to be down at present). It's being played the day before the Wobs play France at Stade Jules Ladoumegue which is the home ground of RC Massy.

Horses for courses indeed. Which is why you can't make a like for like comparison. Several players in Rugby are fairly specialised to play just Rugby. So you would opt for a more League like look. As opposed as a straight Wallabies squad selected to play Rugby.

Which I find unfathomable at this level. They are professional athletes who's jobs are to prepare for these kind of games. That includes being at peak physical condition.

I'd love for a team based in Western Sydney. I'd even suggest taking games to other locations like Campbelltown and Penrith. However, as someone who grew up in the general region and lives somewhat still adjacent to it for that to be viable it would require a lot of work that I cannot see RA...

Speaking from a NSW perspective you could base the 2nd NSW in either North Sydney or if you want a more regional base somewhere like Wollongong or Newcastle.

Or the 6 SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) franchises running their 'B' teams vs a rep squad from each of Sydney and Brisbane. Round robin for 7 games plus finals. Run in the post season between September-December. And do something a little different in actually market the damn thing.
