    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Well, up until 2009 it was a 16 team structure. Could always revert back to that. Or adopt a new structure. Could go with 4x4 pools with the winner of each pool going on to the Cup semi's. The 2nd placed team the Bowl, 3rd the plate and fourth the shield. With the results of those semi's used to...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

USA are missing 5 or 6 of what would have been starters. But they should have handled Zimbabwe. That said, the MLR academies are beginning to produce better younger players at the U18s level so they should be competitive going forward. Spain topping their pool isn't surprising. They've had the...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

What would be really great is if they announce that they will be running a Super Rugby A (Aus based) featuring our 5 franchises plus the U20s. Ideally on a home and away (but I'll take a single round of games) basis giving not only the extended squad of each franchise more quality game time but...

You were alluding to the standard of that competition when the pro return. Issue with that is the NPC is a provincial competition sitting above the local club comps. The pros have their own city/province based clubs which are the equivalent of our club comps. If they went back to them they would...

The NPC and our club comps are not comparable.

Players tend to jump between the NRL and NSW Cup. Which for those outside the Top 30 is very much still professional. But I get what you're saying. Professional players need more professional games which at present we just don't have.

Nothing wrong with throwing up ideas. Totally agree with that. It's just anyway forward needs to strike a better balance. Which leaning too far one way is probably as bad a leaning too far the other. I agree clubs should be part of the development pathways. It's how it's done in a number of...

These are probably the two best in my opinion. The last one is pretty similar to the hybrid model I've suggested for the NRC. Though where I suggest having a Sydney and Brisbane based rep squad join qualifying club sides you'd keep the Tahs and Reds IP alongside the Rebels, Brumbies and Force. A...

How would it be any more marketable than what we've got now? You're spreading talent over more clubs across more competitions. Contrary to the fairy tales many like to spread the club game hasn't grown in the time I've both watched and been apart of. And I've been watching it for 25 plus years...

I found myself irrationally angry during last nights game. The systems in this country are probably irrevocably broken under our current leadership which has been the case for more than two decades and very unlikely to change in the long term. While I don't necessarily agree that schools based...

SANZAAR should definitely be doing more. I actually think they should take some initiative here and set up a U20s Rugby Championship particularly leading into the JWC. Touring up north in November would also help. I actually think there's a couple options here. The first, a U20s Pacific Cup/SRP (Super Rugby Pacific)...

Having watched the tournament I think WR (World Rugby) doesn't do enough with the under 20s level of the game. It's probably the most I've enjoyed watching Rugby for a while if I'm honest. Every game is a must win but instead of grinding out games for the sake of winning they go for it. It's at this level...

It's how it's done in Major League Rugby in the States. A locations ability to have a team is solely dependent on their ability to meet criteria particularly a participation fee and operations of in MLR's case of around $3-5m for a minimum of 5 seasons. I'd set things like must be able to...

Australia A - Back on the Cards

On your highlights list. 1. Definitely. I'd like for our A program to have it's own fleshed out schedule that involved playing games not only against PI nations but some T2 European and Americas (South and North) on an annual basis. 2. That should be part of the above. Also agree that NZ...

Which is why a hybrid club/rep model would be better. Allow for X number of clubs to qualify from each of the Sydney and Brisbane comps. Based on the number of clubs in each say 3 from the Shute and 2 from the Hospitals. Plus the winner from the John Dent Cup. Then alongside these clubs a comp...

    Proposed Nations Championship

Why would we be lucky to be invited? We're a traditional Rugby nation that has long occupied T1 status.
