    Shute Shield 2017

Under the 2017 playing conditions, rule 7.3.2 states: "A points cap applies to all players taking the field in each grade" (ie 1st and 2nd grade, colts1 and colts2)

I don't think it matters whether they are fresh reserves or not anymore. I think this was changed last year (?) so that all players who take the field are now counted in the total whether or not they played a previous game that day. This was to overcome the loophole of club's running guys on for...

It was also just pointed out to me (by someone who shall remain anonymous) that the Rats starting lineup v Wicks added up to 101 points, and 113 with their reserves included. In fact, if the NSWRU website is correct, the Rats have been over the PP limit for the last 3 games. How can this be?

    Shute Shield 2017

Just noticed that Uni totaled 79 Player Points v West Harbour and 78 v Norths, but both Dean Mumm and Tom Kingston are listed as "0"points. They must be close to being over the "100" in both games

    Galloping Greens

Wicks played at the Rats end of the park for long periods but declined 4 very kickable penalty opportunities. They failed to score tries from any of the ensuing lineouts. Not much point in dominating field position if you don't take the points on offer. And they lost by 1 point! TAKE THE...

It is Wicks v Rats Sent from my SM-J110F using Tapatalk

Uni have won 6 and lost 6 and have a tough draw ahead: Norths, Manly, Warringah, Eastwood, Gordon and Parramatta. They are 5 points behind Southern (6th) and 11 points behind Wicks and Rats so I think they've got bigger challenges ahead than worrying about a protest.

The SRU were involved in the Wicks / Rats decision so good luck with any protests.

Actually Wicks are 2nd due to better for-and-against than Woodies and 1 more win than Rats --- to be pedantic Sent from my SM-J110F using Tapatalk

Last night Randwick and Warringah agreed that their postponed games from 10/6 would be declared draws (all 4 grades) and each club would therefore receive 2 competition points. A great outcome considering the circumstances under which the round was postponed --- well done both clubs.

Certainly agree about Robinson. His pace, self-belief and ability to find gaps where none seem to exist remind me (a bit!) of Campo. Hope the Tahs continue to leave him out of their team so he can play with the Wicks!

I recorded both as I was at McKay Oval to watch Wicks v Easts. Have to say both SS games were more enjoyable and higher quality rugby than the test. How can full time professional (highly paid) rugby players make so many dumb mistakes? The dumbest of all was Folau's quick throw in. That should...

    Shute Shield 2017

Thought I'd have a go at jinxing a few teams by picking the winners: Southern Districts to beat Eastwood narrowly in the last few minutes Parramatta to draw with Gordon Warringah to smash Penrith by 80 points University to beat West Harbour by 20 points Easts to lose to Randwick by 20 points...

Hope so too, but failing that maybe Bill Pulver (who's offered to resign from the ARU) could take over the club as administrator. That would give him an opportunity to finally give something back to club rugby (only joking) ;)

This guy is what club rugby is all about: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/parramatta/sport/trophy-honours-two-blues-captains-loyalty/news-story/6345a73d8ee1b62f98195f046fab66f7 What an honour to have seen him lead this great club for so many years.

Their record in 1st div subbies was a 3rd grade win in 1994 and 4th grade in 1993. Prior to that they won 1st grade and club championship in 3rd div in 1983. I assume they were promoted to provide a team in the west rather than due to achievements.

Correct. Their female CEO (and co-founder) had asked the ARU for a women's NRC comp but got sick of waiting. She's also on the committee which decides who to invite to join the ARU board apparently. Sent from my SM-J110F using Tapatalk
