    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Well done Wallabies. While there is still a long way to go good to see Schmidt is getting increasing traction with his game plan and it yielded a result for us today.

Oops - sorry. I genuinely forgot which thread I was on (which I guess kinda underlines your point)

    Waratahs 2025

I dunno - just out if the current test squad as a minimum I’d say Slipper, Frost, McReight, Valetini, Wilson, Gordon, White, Paisami & Wright all clearly improved over time. Tupou took great strides early before injuries appear to have set him back. I’m probably missing a couple. Out of those...

Does it run hot and cold?

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

In what way? He was starting 6 & captain before injury. Now the guy who replaced him has been named captain. I know a few people thought the Springboks tests were evidence Wilson wasn’t up to test footy but it doesn’t seem like Schmidt agrees. Wright may not have suffered reputation wise, but...

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I assume you mean Wilson but in playing style Gleeson is most similiar to Valetini. Also, replacing Wilson leaves you with only 2 jumpers. Personally I think Gleeson is unlikely for the bench - I’d guess Hooper or Williams will be preferred but I can see merit in letting Valetini go hard for 60...

Not everyone is a good captain either. Not saying Valetini wouldn’t be - I have no idea. But being a good player and a good captain aren’t the same thing.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Personally I think this is great reward for a guy who was twice overlooked by test coaches but at no point has thrown his toys out of the cot or given up on his ambition to play for the Wallabies. Pleased to see his perseverance rewarded.

I’m intrigued as to how/why am being quoted here. I don’t think the content of your post came from a post of mine.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

It is tough. I think we have to be able to get past the fact that a 50% coaching success rate is very hard to achieve. Schmidt is almost certainly going to be less successful than we hope. By all means be optimistic, but if the guy is doing a lot of the right things but not getting quite the...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

In real time viewing I thought it was purely accidental. I didn’t expect any action because Am jumped. But on replay it did look to me like White deliberately tried to take his legs. In the end I was surprised it didn’t end up a card.

    Wallabies 2024

Well - our front row is kinda a problem at the moment. I’m a bit surprised Capalaba though that you think having some faith that pro coach with 20 off yrs of experience has done some due diligence around a players level of preparedness to play test footy amounts to ‘drinking the cool aid’...

    Wallabies 2024

I’m not actually advocating for change as such. Simply agreeing with the earlier point that I thin Ikitau has all the skills to be a very good 12. His distribution skills are pretty good so I don’t see he’d have any issues acting as an additional playmaker at times. IMO he is a genuine triple...

    Wallabies 2024

That doesn’t actually make any difference to the argument whether Ikitau should be moved to 12 or not. If anything it might support the move as it might get him some more ball.

If be pretty amazed if he didn’t have a good idea of what the lay of the land was. Australian rugbys problems aren’t any secret.

    Wallabies 2024

Moving guys like Nonu, Mortlock, Umaga etc worked out okay. I’m in no particular rush to see him moved but I do think he has all the attributes of a good 12.
