    Wallabies 2024

Stewart has been in the squad. Surely you’d assume he’d be a decent chance. Either that or move Ikitau in one and play Flook at 13.

I assume that is why there has been a move from a number of ACT players to more Qld players. Because Schmidt has faith in the style and core skills that Les Kiss is putting in place with the Reds and he feels there will be more consistency. Whereas when Rennie & McKellar were there I understand...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Previously both the injury law regarding front rowers then the blood bin rule were used by teams to get an advantage. So I’m not going to say it won’t happen. Rugby is rife with teams abusing the laws for their own advantage. But I really can’t see a high degree of risk that we are suddenly...

I don’t think anyone wanted uncontested scrums. But player health is paramount. You can’t fully address the later without allowing the possibility of the former so I don’t see any point complaining about it. Maybe we should accept that player health is an extremely serious issue and be prepared...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

Wasn’t last year their first premiership in 7-8 years and only their second in 10? From someone sitting away from it it seems like Brothers worked very hard on developing players. The recruitment battle seems pretty spirited and they seem to do well, but most guys come in late teens not as Reds...

I do completely understand why people are non-plused by Blyth’s selection. But I will say I can also see his appeal to Schmidt. At his best, whilst he’s a grafter, he’s quite effective. He’s a big body, accurate defender, seems to be a powerful scrummager (the Qld scrum is generally better when...

Played Australian u20s at THP and I think he may have debutted for the Reds there too but my recollection is they converted him to hooker pretty early in his days as a rugby pro

Lots of articles used to always say Angus Blyth looked to model himself on Bakkies Botha. This would be a great weekend to really bring some of those attributes to the table. Hopefully the tough, uncompromising and physically dominant ones - not the brain dead grubby ones that get players carded.

Wow - that’s harsh. I assumed you and Slim would’ve got on.

They’re holding off until they see who we name at 7.

My mistake. That is the game in referring to.

My impression was Wilson got squared up by the half but he was on a hiding to nothing. If he didn’t bite the half scored and once he did bite he couldn’t make an effective tackle on the outside. Haven’t really noticed it as a consistent problem for him - but maybe I just haven’t noticed. My...

Also interesting that I’m sure I’ve read a bunch of comments on here about Wilson’s defence but he missed 1 from 14 attempts. Carlo Tizzano made 19 without a miss. Yeah - I get that stats don’t tell the full story, but I think some are just seeing what they want to see. Salakai-Loto had a...

I think the point of putting Uru to 7 would be to play left and right flankers with both playing a 6 type role. So he wouldn’t be playing open side. Just wearing the 7 jersey. Unfortunately it would mean a pack where you don’t have any genuine on the ball presence - so you’d have to hope you...

No worries. I was sure I read on here he played 7, but happy to be corrected.

Pretty sure Kerevi isn’t fit (and we saw last year that unfit Kerevi is not better than what we have). Skelton isn’t making himself available at least until Argentina.

I believe he played 7 for Australia A last year (or wore the 7 jersey at least) and, from all accounts was very good.

The stats for Paisami (and others) from the weekend. By no means a great game but I’m struggling to work out how in a game were our forwards got towelled and our halves were rubbish and he at least coverred the basics of his job - probably better than anyone else (against a very low bar) he is a...

    Wallabies 2024

It certainly is a shame with all the struggles we’ve had at flyhalf that of the crop from around 2018/2019 - - Harrison - riddled with injury - Lucas - moved to Japan - Pasitoa - riddled with injury - Gordon - derailed by Jones (okay - that’s not 100% fair, but I don’t think it’s 100% wrong...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Disagree. But he’s not really relevant to the current halves anyway other than a demonstration our issues in the halves (both 9 & 10) have been long standing. Even Genia was not nearly as good in the second part of his career as the first.
