Definitely getting behind the Reds. They're my second-favourite team. My family are Queenslanders so although I'm from NSW I've never hated the Reds. Also, I love the way they play.

I remember when the 'Saders took on the Tahs in the '08 final, I went down to the RUC in Canberra to watch the match...

There were numerous Brumbies' players there cheering on the 'Saders... and they weren't alone...

Super Rugby is a provincial comp, so I'm not going to support a team just because they're from the same country...

I've generally been a supporter of the Reds (they used to be my second favourite team), but in light of recent events I don't want them to win...

Stormers or Sharks for me... would love to see a team notch up their first championship...

I support a team from my own country first, within Australia I even have a pecking order which largely translates to supporting the underdog...

My best mate and room mate is a tahs fan and cheers against the Reds no matter who they are playing, bit of a shallow **** but what can you do...

I don't think this matters gagged if it did 95% of the reds playing squad wouldn't have a connection to the team

Funny considering there are more players in the Tahs side who debut'd for the Reds then the other way arond....

I'd say 100% of them have a connection with the team. You know little things like having played for them, living in QLD, having family who live there, etc.

Not really...

This isn't Australia v New Zealand or South Africa...

I have no deeper connection to Queensland than I do Durban or Christchurch...

you didn't cheer a little when John Eales raised the 1999 RWC or when Timmy Horan was named man of the match in that same game? When Toutai scored the winning try v the All Blacks in 2001? When Andrew Slack captained the 1984 Wallabies to the Grand Slam? When Michael Lynagh orchestrated that great quarter final come back v Ireland in 1991?

No connection to any of that?

Also, Queensland was once part of NSW, so really we're all blue at heart. But by the same token, so was New Zealand...

What part of this 'isn't Australia v New Zealand or South Africa' do some of you not understand?

I'm talking about Slim's comment "I have no deeper connection to Queensland than I do Durban or Christchurch..."

I would have thought that enjoying QLDers like Eales, Horan, Kefu etc excel for Australia would have developed a little bit of connection to him.

Do you "understand" me now?

I guess my simple intellect struggles with the concept of cheering for Beale, Robinson, TPN, for AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Moore and even Giteau, for Sharpe, Pocock, O'Connor as wallabies and then turning around and not supporting them in super rugby.

I identify the super sides with their players. Not their supporters. The Australian super sides have mainly australian players, and I want those players to go well. It's easy for me to support the reds against other sides, but a no-brainer to support the other Australian sides when they're not playng the reds. To not do so seems fickle and hopelessly parochial to me.

Finally there are supporters from each super side that say things if I find lame, annoying or immature, and I find some of the reds supporters most cringeworthy. But that has nothing to do with Horwill and co, anymore than I can blame Beale, Sharpe or Moore.

Finally there are supporters from each super side that I don't want a whole lot to do with, and I find some of the reds supporters most cringeworthy. But that has nothing to do with Horwill and co, anymore than I can blame Beale for WJ.

thanks for the name drop.

I am the same, hence why I was glad for the Tahs to lose last night.

Yeah, sorry, edited it straight away.

Didn't have to, I say what I believe, it works both ways, but it's a forum it's about opinion and discussion.
I said what I said as I will support the reds but as a nsw fan, there fans would make the next year hell for me as I would them. Wouldn't expect it any other way and that's what's great about it.
