do you think? I can see that argument in Sailor, Tuqiri, Folau and Rogers. Event Hunt. Just don't quite see fans flocking in to see Cronk.

Id like to see, just once, the ARU do some research on that proposition before signing him - doesn't the self imposed moratorium on non-wallaby signings mean they can't do anything in the short term - or is that a rule that doesn't apply to them.
As a matter of interest what position would he play?

Would they try slot him in at 10? A bit old to be learning new tricks though. Halfback would not likely work due to the position specific skills that take a bit to develop. His kicking game, running game and passing game would be an asset at 10.
He did play Aus schools at 10...

Cronk is 33. While no doubt a very good footballer I don't think the ARU chasing ageing league players is a good sign at all. He hasn't played rugby union since around 2002. Australian rugby needs to get over its inferiority complex with league and just concentrate on developing and retaining good rugby players - they lose plenty of them to the NRL development from school etc, if they're going to target any then go for the young guys who have potential to come back. Cheika would do well to focus on the sport he is employed to coach and look for long term improvements not short term quick fixes (league players, overseas based retirees etc).

I think it has a lot more to do with how the NRCclubs market themselves. I know the Rams worked toward building their own identity last eeason which will hopefully continue this year with growing success.

Can't we just have the 5 current super sides + Fiji over 10 weeks?
Perfect opportunity for the Tahs to take games to the Western Suburbs or the country and then people can actually engage with the Tahs and not the Eagles.
You'd probably sell 10,000 tickets to a Tahs game vs Fiji in Parramatta. Surely the Reds v Tahs on the Gold Coast would be more attractive than QLD Country vs the Stars.
The Rebels vs Force at Franston Oval would be more attractive than the Rising v Spirit?
Plus it would keep some form of resemblance of professional rugby at whoever is cut from Super Rugby. It's going to be a tough pill to swallow for whoever is cut, but keeping the team around keeps some glimmer of hope going forward.
Surely going forward a Brumbies v Reds domestic grandfinal would generate more momentum going into the next Super season for fans and sponsors than a Vikings v Brisbane City clash.
You'd still have youngsters coming through with the 30odd players in the wallabies squad. But surely this is a better option than the NRC. It'd give coaches more time with players to develop their systems and for players to understand them.

Agree and,. Re a number of replies on the previous page, on my post where some posters where looking positively at the A-League model and I posted they are building from the bottom. Replies to it centred around the quality of the A-League and poor measurement tools on the NPL.
I guess you guys are right, soccer in Australia has crap quality, and using facebook as measurement tool well that’s a joke.
So logically we have nothing to learn from looking at what a bottom up approach does. Further who needs active and noisy stakeholders who exam FFA policy in detail and apply blow torches to FFA bellies if they believe it could be done better.
Agree we have nothing to learn, I am sure the Super Rugby grand final will be huge. Rugby will have people begging to get in and governments and council insisting on why they should join.
Rugby must also have 17 bids, most government backed wanting to join, like FFA does.
So as we cut a team, FFA are looking to add teams and have people begging to get in. So just maybe we could learn something.
As an aside you don’t get 17 bids and from the people bidding unless investors see a lot of upside FFA have laid some impressive foundations with player numbers, getting into schools, and taking the code to mainstream general acceptance.
Wam as a former CEO you would understand how developing and creating environments is critical to future growth.
Without trying to tell people how to suck eggs maybe part of the reason these bids are coming in because they have such an extensive and inclusive NPL to support local teams
The point of the replies around the Facebook live views had nothing to do with what you've mentioned above.
It was merely that they need to be taken with a grain of salt as they massively overstate the audience (which helps Facebook because they generate revenue from ads).
The ARU has put a heap more content up via live streaming / Facebook Live and should clearly continue that path.
It's just not going to suddenly become a big revenue stream just as it isn't for the NPL.
Clearly we do need as much content out there and promoting lower level competitions in this way is important.

Everything is temporary, including life itself. His presence would give us some headlines, and generate a bit of interest. It is no coincidence that Folau is our biggest single publicity magnet.
It almost certainly will not happen, but if it does it will probably be a net positive for the game, and we sorely need some of those.
Incidentally, I know very little about his career with the Storm, but from my limited observation, theirs is by far the best run franchise (in coaching terms), and the fact that he has been a fixture in the team for so long speaks volumes for his abilities.
Would he adjust? He is clearly intelligent and grounded enough to pick up the nuances. Probably quicker than some of our established "stars". The pity is that he did not stay in our game instead of going to the dark side.
