What to do with JOC (James O'Connor)?

Drop a player who could credibly claim to be the world's best in his position on the back of one less-than-stellar performance?

My, how fickle we are. KB (Kurtley Beale) is a top shelf 15 and he had one bad game. And we want him shot? Fucking hell......some hard markers around here.

I don't want, believe, suspect or hallucinate Beale dropped. I just want him to play to the elite level he can - by not pushing his options. The only person who should be chip kicking is Higginbotbot, FFS.

He may have pushed his options, but he also made a clean line break, a decent half break, a try saving tackle and the intercept that closed down the game. If Fingers had done half those things (well, he did do a try-saving tackle) then the forum would be in a frenzy of adulation.

We expect Beale to turn on on the magic, and he invariably does, but we've become blase.

Just from reading GAGR's player rankings after each game, KB (Kurtley Beale)'s consistently been one of the better Oz backs in recent tests. Last night was just an outlier in the data, he'll be right.

As for O'Bieber I agree that the win last night will give him a dose of reality. But seeing him, Barnes, TPN, Palu and Mitchell all sitting on the sidelines celebrating Samo's try made my balls tingle; do we finally have license to anoint our bench as a weapon?

Fa'ainga didn't lose the ball three times in contact, run away from his support and put a grubber in when there was opportunity to put it through the hands.

But you should ignore what I say as apparently i've been a Beale hater for years.

I'm glad to see JOC (James O'Connor) now in a position where he has to fight it out wit Mitchell and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to get his spot back.

His punishment for his disgraceful actions is really rolling along nicely.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) deserves another go on the wing for the next game, but I would expect JOC (James O'Connor) or Mitchell to be there at crunch time.

I believe O'Connor was gutted like never before in his life for missing on the All Blacks win and the title. He will be much better for it. In all likelihood he will get his 14 jersey back. He caught some flak lately because of his somewhat erratic goal kicking (on top of the off-field drama), and that may have overshadowed his general play, which was pretty good. He had a good deal of linebreaks and in that roaming position he spent some valuable time in midfield (most notably setting up McCabe's try on the wing), proving that he offers something different to pure ball runners like AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Ioane and Mitchell.

He is the most versatile player in the team and I do think that he is just as gifted as KB (Kurtley Beale) and Cooper. His best rugby in 2011 is ahead of him, and it would be a mistake to drop him.

at least the form of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Fingers should put an end to the chat about Horne getting a start. people are questioning the return of mitchell to to starting 15 after coming back from injury, this is a guy who is proven in the wallaby jersey yet Horne's name keeps coming up with no experience and little match fitness.

There's no smoke without fire. It's not like people have been paid off by Horne so that we'll keep talking him up; he's a very talented footballer, with sever injury problems but massive potential. For those of us that have seen him in his peak form so far, there's a lot to crow about.

He's injured and will need time to come back to form: I wouldn't mind seeing him at 13 with Angaa at 12 in one of the pool games.

This is why people think Rob Horne is good. I am one of those people.

I am also pretty sure that he has more pace than AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Fainga'a, and McCabe.

i dont deny that Horne is a good player or has massive potential (we could get a best of Fingers or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) video off youtube showing them at their best as well) but the WC will be about building momentum throughout the pool stages so that we are firing come finals time. i would think it would be about building on the combinations that have been formed through the tri nations not using new players....you have 4 years to prepare a WC team, i think its leaving it very late to be trying new combinations in the pool matches.

in saying that i do think that Deans will give Barnes a shot at the 12 jumper

Horne isn't going to make the 22 unless there are injuries to other players. His run for the team has been too late. He will have many opportunities in the future.
