Why would the Force waste their money like this... Ebersohn is a handy back-up, to cover injuries and/or come off the bench, but he's a developing player (vastly different to Pretorious at the Tahs).

They've already got developing 5/8s of their own, Seymour and Goodwin. This decision just seems silly, I mean I know the Force are a smaller team then most and that means they have to roll the dice recruitment-wise more often than others but still, this is silly.

Throw money at Tusi Pisi from the Canes or someone similar, he'd be a much more sensible choice.

Yeah gotta agree en_force_er, seems like a waste, he is now the Cheetahs 3rd choice fly half as it is. Waste of a foriegn spot....AGAIN.

Geez I dunno about this move. I think Sias is a pretty decent player, but he's not a superstar in any way yet. I'd like to see Seymour shift to 12 and Godwin coming into 10 at least on a trial basis. I can't hurt to at least have a look at him there. Mafi at fullback full time for mine next year. I think he's been fantastic back there this season.

Sias is a good player, but Pocock said that he wants to see a coach and a world class haves pairing before he commits to the Force. With the Genia renege, and now a foreign marquee spot gone, Brumbies must been feeling a little pleased with this news.

If they can't attracted quality established players, spend some money scouting Polynesia and pick a smokey from out there that has potential.

Toulouse sinks money into it and it's amazing how quickly some guys go from non-professional to a quality player. Now they might have a bigger budget but Force have other advantages like they're half a world closer.

If you're going to select players creatively, select really creatively.

Really well said e_f_e. As posted elsewhere, the Force management look very like they're panicking to 'do something about the 10' and foolishly rushing to recruit. Just as they did wrt Genia when they really didn't need a highly expensive 9. They should be patient and very carefully wait for a world-class coach and just the right type of new player. With the correct, careful choices in all the key positions, the results will improve and so will Rugby WA's income.

None of this in any way surprises me sadly as I've long thought the Force's management was of poor quality and had led the team into a desert of mediocrity and slow decline. And that in itself hardly surprises as their Board is accountable to nobody, short of incurring a financial disaster that would require the diversion of scarce ARU funds to bail them out.

People don't give this signing enough credit. Do you know how hard it is to find a super15 quality fly half? We haven't had one for years. This guy is good, great news for the club. Exactly what we need. Sure they could have tried for a test fly half, but you could say that about any signing. Not to mention every test fly half we've ever signed has been injury prone to the max, this guy is young and not overplayed in the international season.

Welcome Sias!

Ebersohn maybe not what I was thinking as first choice but I'm willing to give the guy a shot. He's still young, change of environment, new coach, players and lifestyle could see him flourish. Certainly more quality players need to be recruited to bolster the ranks but then lets see how the player dynamic develops when a quality coach is in place. It's not always about having a list of star players on the books........as the cliche goes.....'a champion team will always beat a team of champions'......

Totally agree, but this puts even more pressure on the club to come up with a quality coach who knows how to run a backline. That has been our problem this year, in defence and attack. Sias will definitely be an improvement, but it will be equally important to partner him up with a halfback who can clear the ball quickly and accurately from the set piece or ruck.

Hornet perhaps we can run the Force....on a 1 week on 1 week off basis :)

Ebersohn was a junior Springbok so obviously has potential.....just lost his way, confidence the last year or so. Potential...gotta like potential.

You've got yourself a deal ;)

Sias definitely has potential, I just worry that that he has been overtaken at 10 in one of the lowest performing franchises in Super rugby. Do love the potential though if paired with a good coach.

If the Cheetahs and Lions merge next year then they have Goosen and Jantjies.

I can see why Ebersohn was looking elsewhere.

I wonder if any of the Aussie teams have tried to poach Kiwi 10s. They seem to grow on trees over there.

With Dan Carter returning to form, someone like Tom Taylor could be recruitable.

Based on the U20 World Champs in the last few years where they have had Cruden, Bleyendaal and Anscombe, I'd just be signing up whoever is playing 10 at the 2012 tournament on the basis of how good his predecessors have been.
