JOC (James O'Connor) has done a lot of ads since signing with Melbourne. it didn't hurt his profile brand in moving east to a large city, he just should've said it publicly. I must say I dont think Melbourne is helping his rugby any. pony club would have been a better choice.

I couldn't see JOC (James O'Connor) fitting in with the Brumbies' team culture.......

Maybe he can take a leaf out of the suggestions in the Waratahs 2013 thread and hire a band to play on the ship as well.

To the members and supporters of the Emirates Western Force

To the members and supporters of the Emirates Western Force,

RugbyWA has always been an organisation that has prided itself on providing a strong and clear line of communication with its members and fans.

The decision not to provide details of the coaching process has been a deliberate one as a means of respecting the privacy of the candidates involved.
...
While our intentions are honourable, we appreciate that this has, in turn, caused significant angst and frustration for the Sea of Blue.

The exercise to appoint a Head Coach for the Emirates Western Force has been intensive and one we had hoped would be resolved by this time. However, through reasons beyond our control, the process is continuing and will continue until we have appointed the right person for this role.

The appointment of the next Emirates Western Force Head Coach is vital, not only for the ongoing strength of organisation, but as a means of providing our loyal members and supporters with the success you deserve after seven years of unrelenting support.

While this process of appointing a coach has caused frustration within the organisation, we understand that our members and fans have felt this frustration ten-fold at having to rely on media reporting of the issue.

We are aware of the extensive media speculation regarding this appointment. However, we have made a considered move not to comment on this speculation, as a means of not adding further fuel to speculation and, as stated, protecting the confidentiality of the process.

While we apologise for the frustration this lengthy process has caused, we stress that as soon as the correct candidate has been appointed, we will make this known to our members and supporters.

The club’s preparations towards the 2013 FxPro Super Rugby campaign continue unabated. We are undergoing a number of changes internally, including the restructure of our rugby department and the appointment of a new recruitment role, as a means of attracting and retaining players moving forward.

We remain a proud club and one intent on success. We thank you for your continued interest and feedback in these matters and look forward to being able to bring you further news regarding the future direction of the Emirates Western Force in the near future.

That's it Vern, you stand up on the poop deck shuffling deck chairs while explaining how the double thickness hull is sure to keep the icy water out.
I suppose it is inevitable that CEO Vern Reid should come under criticism but the article shows him to be a man not afraid to tell it like it is:

"Everybody clearly wants something happening, changes to be made, including me."
Yes, Vern, from everything I read you are one of the changes that everybody clearly wants made. Very brave of you to draw attention to it, for which reason I hope you won't be on Centrelink's books for too long. Chin up.
"... we have lost the one bloke we really wanted to hang on to ..."
The rest don't matter a shit. Once again brutally honest which does you credit. Just don't expect any of the players to turn up for your farewell drinks, unless they come along to make sure you are really going.

Interesting post by the Force. If they were being so deliberate and considered, then news of Cheika's and Foley's rejection should not have leaked. Simple.

The Western Force are in trouble, and in truth, if David Pocock leaving is the catalyst for wide-ranging change within RugbyWA and EWF, then that can only be a good thing.

The problem is if Pocock's leaving is not a catalyst for the change.

Often people in power do not realise that they are the ones responsible. I have seen this numerous times in my professional career (and it's worse in some cultures), even when it is staring them in the face.

It really looks like that Vern will need to be pushed.

I've also seen it Ash. I've spent the last decade of my career being called in to turn around dysfunctional situations and this is looking like it.

I joked with a mate yesterday that I should write RugbyWA a letter and offer my services. Maybe I shouldn't joke about it :D

No one's particularly happy with the turn of events but death riding the whole set-up doesn't help.

My commiserations to all Force supporters, I hope this does not turn out as badly as I fear it might.
Can anyone explain why Blake was never considered? I thought he had a higher winning percentage than the incumbent with a weaker squad?
An insiders view on Strengths and weaknesses of the squad would have been a benefit as well, I would have thought.

Not the whole set-up, just the board.

For every action, there is an equal an opposite reaction.

The foundation board lead by Stooke (who had his own issues) played the game tough. Remember the hand slaps, sanctions and fines the Force copped when they went about building a squad?

They did that, in part, because they knew the good ole boys at Ballymore and Moore Park would not be happy to have another kid in the sandpit. They used their every fibre to spoil and keep their new, little brother in check.

The board now is far more pliant, arguably they have tried to play the game.

It hasn't worked.

The academy is gone, third-party payouts have been cleaned up, we can't seem to attract Wallabies - or top tier internationals - for a range of reasons.

The ARU has got what it paid for and the Force does look as though it's withering on the vine.

The good news? Force's supporters.

It looked the most likely scenario. I was warming to Bruce's idea of Todd Louden, but Foley is a capable guy. I just want the situation resolved and have us get on with the business of improving our footy club.

Lately it has been hard to post without criticising the Force - with reason, unfortunately.
Would be nice to post on something positive - hopefully soon.

Wouldn't hold my breath but hopeful of a change in fortune.
