After how long I waited for a beer at Shute shield final if tahs played at north Sydney oval it would just give me another reason to not go to tahs matches this season.

Expect they would bump up the staff with the Tahs. Pub over the road and many more in walking distance as well for your pre and post match needs.

Interesting thought, the referee usually looks up at the big screen to make a joint decision these days with the TMO. If the Tahs aren't playing at a ground with a big screen then it will all be on the TMO, wonder how this will affect the quality of decisions.

SANZAAR would have minimum requirements for fields and I'd suggest a big screen is one of them.

Yep, people seem to have fond memories due to nostalgic reasons, reality is the faculties at North Sydney oval are well below standard. Food, drinks, bathrooms, protection from the weather, corporate facilities are all below standard and the players/officials change rooms, medical facilities, press rooms and broadcast facilities all need upgrades.

Nostalgically it may be nice, kind of like the Reds taking a game back to Ballymore... practically it’s not feasible

Did they have a big screen when they played over in Samoa for that Blues vs Chiefs game? Will certainly limit the choice of fields in Sydney

When it isn’t a capacity crowd they intend on just pulling the curtains across so you can’t see the empty seats

If Gibson stays as coach beyond this season they might want to leave the curtains pulled across as a permanent fixture. If Davis has not picked up what players think of nsw coaching development with the minimal force players choosing the tahs then I don’t think he will ever get it.

What are people thinking about the matchday 23 this year?

The biggest points of contention for me are 13,14,11 and 4,5,6,8.

Ideally, I'd like:

1. Robertson
2. Latu
3. Kepu
4. Simmons
5. Hanigan
6. Dempsey
7. Hooper
8. Holloway
9. Gordon
10. Foley
11. TQN
12. Beale
13. Simone / Foketi
14. Newsome
15. Folau

16. Ryan
17. Roach
18. ?
19. Palmer
20. Staniforth
21. Phipps
22. Mason
23. Kellaway

I also wouldn't mind seeing TQN trialled at 13 after that Barbarians performance.

The Hanigan / Dempsey dilemma at 6 is made all the worse by the fact that Hanigan doesn't offer much starch in the 2nd row, but then again, neither do Staniforth or Simmons.

I understand there's a lot of hype about Staniforth, and his NRC fans often quote his insane work rate but, personally, I don't care if a player has 24 carries a game if they're for an aggregated 3 metres.

I want to see a bit more impact from him, and hopefully off the bench him and Palmer can provide that. Once they get subbed, the backrow barndance can begin as Hanigan can play 6, Dempsey can play 7 or 8 etc.

I'd also like to see Foley given some rest games this season to freshen him up as he's played an insane amount of footy this year and hasn't played to his best form. Mason is a quality player, and there's no better apprenticeship that he could have than under Beale.

Also, looking at Simon Cronn's LinkedIn, he moonlights as the Managing Director of Lilly & Finn Fashion.

Cheika 2.0? How many languages does this bloke speak?

Vui slots straight onto the bench TH spot, Fingers crossed we may also end up with Rona and McCalman.... which sorts out the 13 spot but adds to the back-row barn dance........ What we'd give for a big hard nosed Super Rugby!! Hopefully Newsome steps up and owns the other wing slot, we really need some turbo speed out there to compliment the brick outhouse on the other wing.

That is one lightweight pack. We aren't going to be overpowering any teams.

A second row pairing of Simmons and Hanigan has to be the least effective second row in the comp.

I agree, we are going to really struggle to get over the ad line,

it doesn't seem that long ago when we had a Championship winning pack with the likes of Kepu, TPN, Skelton, Douglas, Potgeiter, Dennis, Palu and Hooper.

Sadly only two remain...... Replaced with the likes of Robertson, Simmons, Staniforth, Hanigan Holloway etc.

Of the current squad, possibly only Dempsey for Dennis would even be close to making that side. How far we've fallen in such a short space of time....

My suspicion is there will be power in the second row.... Leon Power that is. At least the wikipedia player transfers page has him as returning from injury. The lack of impact in the pack will highlight the need to have big Taquele start and double as a ball carrier in the tight. Gibson has taken over as defence coach so he going to have to work out what to do with him in that regard. The potential loss of Dempsey for the whole season further compounds the issue.

But I agree New some should start on one wing and hopefully Rona will play 13, Simone and Clarke on the bench

For the whole season? actually? where did you hear that. I wouldve have thought a muscle tear would be 6 months max?

I read it on here somewhere. Someone wrote that the muscle came off the bone completely. They seemed to have inside knowledge.
